October 1st, time for fall perfumes! Enforced Modesty goes metallic on me in warm weather, but fig and lilac take the lead in cooler weather. Easy comfort reach, similar to Parakeet in the summer. Seattle Chocolate is one of the few gourmands I enjoy. Dark chocolate and fir trees 🍂 #perfumesky 🍂

#SOTD Orris Forest by Maher Olfactive. If I see coumarin or a lot of green notes, I typically avoid. But the sample kept haunting me. 1st full wear of the season...I actually love this. Orris butter is the star, and it feels like a walk thru Hocking Hills in the fall. #perfumesky

Description of perfume from the website: Growing up, my grandmother lived south of Saint Louis close to the Meramec River. As a child, I loved hiking out in the woods behind her house down to a creek that was a tributary to that river. There were fun hills to climb, and the smell was so fresh, green and vibrant.

As I was composing Tempo Rubato and contemplating the multifaceted scent of orris butter, especially the watery green nuances. It suddenly made me think of those hikes. So I composed this with those memories at the top of mind to create a nouveau fougère of sorts.

The result is a fresh spring day with blooming flowers, shimmering green notes with dew drops, the wet rocks of a creek and spicy, mossy undergrowth.

Notes: cassie absolute, violet leaf, orris butter, fig leaf, piñon pine, juniper tree, Bulgarian lavender, coriander, oakmoss, coumarin, dark-aged patchouli and Indian black pepper.

Really impressed with Tale! Bad Lily is already on my FB list, and now Rouse. Animalic jammy rose w/a realistic honey note. Fleurt was a pleasant surprise. Creamy, not too sweet gourmand. Not something I’d get a FB of but it was fun to sample. Water Me was the only one I didn’t care for. #perfumesky

#SOTD Tale Parfums Bad Lily. Now THIS is the green scent for me! Love at first spray. So hard to describe tho. Creamy, anise adjacent, green, musky, and prune fruity. Never goes too sharp or green, and doesn't come off too literal like a lot of green scents. On the FB list #perfumesky

#SOTN is my attempt to touch grass. Grass is my fave Lush scent, next to Rose Jam. Smells like fresh cut, wet grass before your allergies kick in. Ave in the Rain smells like stepping outside after a rainstorm, while Earth Star is wet forest floor and mushrooms. Weird but calming. #perfumesky

Finally got around to sampling Little Song. Thought it would be a love, but sadly it goes south on my skin. Assumed Viole Nere was going to be standard powder violet but the dry down has character, kinda like the powdery Marlou scents. Encore Du Temps is the surprising fave, so dreamy ❤️ #perfumesky

#SOTN is Maher Olfactive’s The Fog Cowers. Based on notes and website description, I should absolutely hate this. I’m a tuberose and chypre hater at my core. But this does it for me. Surprisingly great in warm weather, and a contemplative bedtime scent. #perfumesky

The Fog Cowers description from Maher’s website: T.S. Eliot wrote about a place in the woods "where the fog cowers," and this is a perfect setting for this chypre. It is experienced through a gauzy fog of musky undertones, where decadent florals, rich moss and sappy fir trees can be made out, peeking through the mist. It is full of mystery and wonder that can only be experienced through the mounting anticipation of unknown pleasures.

My scent of the night this week has been Parfum Obims The Stoop. It’s a mineral, slightly sweet clean scent that doesn’t go metallic. Smells like wet concrete after a summer rain. It doesn’t quite hit the same in daytime but I’ll be purchasing a full bottle as my go-to bedtime scent. #perfumesky

Scents of the weekend: Parfums Obim UV is berry bubblegum w/sweetness dialed down. Addictive! It transferred to my couch blanket yesterday and I've been sniffing it all day. L'Aventura Cotillion is photorealistic fresh cut grass. Appreciate that it doesn't lean too green, but not for me #perfumesky

Sampling Orris Forest has been aggravating as hell. Ambrox heavy and has coumirin, which are 🚫 for me usually. Yet I adore this 🙃 Decent longevity but frustratingly ethereal. Got a sample of its sister Tempo Rubato to compare. Lovely but not satisfying whatever OF left me wanting #perfumesky

#SOTD Can't make up my mind about Enforced Modesty. I get the marble note, which is lovely. But one minute it's the perfect balance of green and powder, next minute it's astringent and borderline metallic. Repeat all day. The lilac is so moody. Pleasant enough to finish the bottle tho #perfumesky

Violet Hour arrived this week! Took a chance buying a FB w/o a full wear test. With the exception of 2 scents, tea notes dry down to bad breath on my skin. But this had me on 1st sniff at Fumed. #SOTD is another Fumed discovery, Home with You by Domestica. Y’all this makes my brain glitch in a good way. The bandaid accord is so realistic, pairs perfectly with the cherry menthol top notes. Dry down is slightly sweet and powdery, but the bandaid remains and I love it! #perfumesky
