The phrase "all the gear, but no idea" comes to mind 🤭

My spelling mistakes tell you this is not AI 😅 I swear auto correct on gboard is gotten worse since Google started adding more fuzzy AI 🙃

AI is like nuclear science, it can be used for goo, like treating cancer, or for bad, like killing a while city of people. I do feel a lot of people forget that AI has intelligence like a calculator, information processing. It doesn't have knowledge or wisdom. It just great at pretending it does.

Always find it interesting that the same people that feel you should "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" always are against inheritance taxes. IMHO, inheritance is income

Roads, bridges, tunnels, traffic lights, etc are all operated and maintained by taxes, because it's good for people and businesses. Why can't we have free public transport too? We've been subsidising the car industry for too long.

I remember talking to someone at a dealership saying how most people that buy PHEV just do it to get the tax cuts and subsidies. They never use the battery. 🫣

Ah so sorry to hear that. May be worth checking out fiverr or similar to support creativity. Or old fashioned stock images and memes 😅 It's hard to gauge when AI is being an addition to a team and not a replacement. I'd be interested on seeing the talk if it was recorded.

That's a nice sentiment, but that illustration, traditionally would have required talking to a designer on the team and ask them to help with that. How long until we're left out too? 🫣😬

History is interesting. However, when going back that far and then use that for political argument, feel cringe. Don't disagree with Putin having a hand in Brexit, but there's also plenty of domestic actors that have benefited from it's failure.

How small do we go? Surely Surrey is also not the same as Devon. South Hams is not the same as Cambridge. I agree with self determination and fair local governance, but splitting bigger unions can also reduce the collective power, as we saw with Brexit.

Suhtai @suhtai.com · 31/05/2026
Oh yeah, absolutely agree 😅 And a lot of the modern neoliberal brainrot comes from here too. It's interesting though, that you mentioned Scotland being removed from a union while wanting the whole UK to join a union. 😅 I personally think we are better together 🫶

It's not easy for sure, but it's worth it, to paraphrase the spirit of Kennedy's speech 😅 We are currently doing it with trains in the UK and it's already showing good results 😊

Why not have the government do it? It works for other services. The US is obsessed with the idea that the private sector is more efficient, not always, and usually only financially efficient, not in other metrics.

What I meant to say is that these contracts were kept, not awarded 😬
220
Suhtai @suhtai.com · 30/05/2026
True, not with Biden, but both Obama and Biden kept on the defunding of NASA that Bush started. I definitely don't like the Orange cry baby, but he actually tried to cut the contracts with SpaceX, but it was found that it's too hard to do because of the nature of the contracts.
110
Suhtai @suhtai.com · 30/05/2026
Not partisan. These contacts were awarded with Biden, the enshitification of NASA, and falling for the neoliberal crap if private is better, has been happening for decades.

Let's not forget how this will also affect cis women that don't fit the feminine stereotypes as well as cis women of colour. Nobody should have a legal framework to question someone's identity, or discriminate, on the basis of looks.

My hypothesis is that in the 1980s is when silicon valley opened up to Wall Street, disruption, break things and moving fast, instead of proper engineering and science. Which also breeds horrible attitudes and the current bro culture in many places. But I could be wrong 😅

Behold the labour party. They want to exclude trans people from society but to do so with "dignity and respect." It's pissing on trans people and calling it rain.

A screenshot of a two-part social media thread by Sarah Owen MP (@sarahowen.org.uk).
The first post reads: "Organisations which also want to remain trans-inclusive need to receive support on how to do so within the law. In a similar way, those that wish to exclude trans men and women from their spaces also need to know how to do so without breaching individual rights to privacy. (6/7)"
The second post reads: "All of us deserve to be able to live with dignity and be treated with respect. (7/7)" The timestamp is 12:02 PM · May 21, 2026.

From the just released draft of the guidance on the Equality Act 2010. Probably one of the most self contradictory document I've read in a while.

Look fam, we can't be intolerant of intolerant ideologies /s
Point 4.100 of the new UK guidance on the Equality Act 2010:
"Examples of stereotypes in relation to religion or belief are that persons who hold or manifest certain gender-critical beliefs necessarily have negative attitudes towards trans people, or that persons who hold or manifest the belief that same-sex sexual activity is sinful necessarily have negative attitudes towards gay people. The judgment explains that: 'it may be that some persons who hold / manifest such beliefs have such animus, but it is stereotyping to assume that all do"

That would be hypocritical, not ironic. I think you're reading too much into what was supposed to be a funny remark. It's just odd to see the em dash being used by humans, I wouldn't even know how type it. And I'm not saying you're using AI to write it, chill.

Suhtai @suhtai.com · 18/05/2026
I'm saying it's ironic. I agree with the sentiment of the thread 100% btw, I've seen how people confuse intelligence with wisdom and let AI drive. I just found it funny that's all.

Isn't that one of the classic signs that text has been AI generated? Just found it ironic on a thread somewhat critical about AI, that's all.

The number of people confusing intelligence with wisdom is shocking. I use it, but don't let it drive, it's there to assist. I've asked people 'why this change?' only to be told 'IDK, Claude suggested it'. 🤦‍♀️ Is it all lost?

The average daily driving in the US (where is high) is about 37 mi. www.lookupaplate.com/blog/how-man... You shouldn't drive more than 2 hours (max 140mi). 200 miles is plenty for most people. That's about one charge a week, maybe while doing your groceries for the week?

We need to invest in conversion kits. We have enough cars that could double or triple their life with a motor in them.

I'd report it to the council, depending where you are they usually have a form you can send this picture to. Sadly it's just a fine, they should get points on their licence for this kind of thing.

Until plastics stop being a waste product, that otherwise costs refineries money to get rid, these aren't that useful. We've had better and cheaper options for a while already. But good news that we have another option when we finally stop making gasoline.

Even before of AI, with self check out and such. It's not that hard too, the higher the ratio between salaries and revenue, the higher the tax to pay for UBI, so it should balance itself out instead of people having to live on UC while working and such.
010
Suhtai @suhtai.com · 03/05/2026
Meh, S+D is a bit of an ideological concept shoved to us from school that often doesn't work IRL. It's more complicated, and often controlled by corporate interests. But I can see some effect of that. IMHO, we should tax automation to balance it with UBI 😁

Yes, but the OP says "they could" not that they should. To frame the level of wealth extraction from the lower earning levels of the working class. That's the point that I think you keep holding on to 😅 There was no action suggested, just a frame of reference.
