I made an amazing cake from an extremely sketchily-written recipe. It’s an orange creamsicle cake with orange curd layers and orange buttercream frosting. I have zested, whisked, and stirred my arms into a new state of tiredness.

This is a frosted, yellow-ish 3-layer cake with a yellow-ish “orange” curd atop. It is orange creamsicle flavor.

So I learned that “new” rose bushes produce flowers that are not full flowers. I planted these as bare roots in April. They are really growing! The Jacob’s Coat smells the best.

This is my Jacob’s Coat climbing rose. It is a salmon and yellow colored rose, and a young plant, so the flowers are not fully formed yet. We have had a ton of rain all week so the flowers look a bit battered, but this is by far the most fragrant rose. They smell wonderful.

This is my yellow climbing rose, which is just about to bloom for the first time. I hope it will be as fragrant as the others.

Gardening (in pots for now), and learning about roses. My Don Juan climber, which I’ve had for several years, has completely defoliated because of black spot, so I have cut her way back and hoped for the best. I am learning.

This is an Angela climbing rose. This flower opened during the day and closed at night. It has a bunch of clusters of buds. I just received it as a bare root plant in March and it is growing really quickly.

I found aphids on my Joseph’s Coat buds today and sprayed it. This is a new rose I received as a bare root plant in March. I am the most excited about this one. The blooms will be salmon and yellow.

I had powdery mildew on several of my new roses. I have treated that and am hoping for the best. I spaced my pots out a little more too.

See my little cardinal friend nesting in my banana shrub outside the screened porch? The banana shrub has small purple blooms that smell like a chocolate martini. This “shrub” is the size of a small tree.

This is the rootball from a #houseplant that was in a very big pot for about 15 years. It had become too big to move in and out for winter, so I left it outside and it died. I had a hard time removing it from the pot.

I ordered some medication from Canada that I can’t get in the US. The total of the medication was around $69 plus shipping of $15 by UPS. Once it shipped, I had to pay an additional $50 in tariffs and broker fees to get it here. Tell me again how US citizens aren’t paying the tariffs.

There's been a lot of Colonoscopy talk. I got my first one a year ago and the worst part was the funky liquid you have to drink the day before. It was easy. Nurses and Doctors were wonderful. I rested on the couch for the day after (mine was in the AM). Book yours today! I got the all clear.
