The Big Ten is winning National Championships and making more TV money than the SEC. But there is a growing problem... The widening gap in TV ratings and the quality of the TV product itself, compared to the SEC, has many hitting the panic button. awfulannouncing.com/college-foot...

Has anyone ever benefited from this? You gain getting off the plane early by 2 people at most.

So it's 10 p.m. on Wednesday. I think it's safe to say Penn State is not posting a Penn State Football Story this week.

Again, one loss, still very bullish on him, think there truly was a lot of fixable stuff there. But fundamentally, not that much has changed between Ames and State College in terms of the rules or logic of football.

A few of the Matt Campbell comments just did not make sense at all today. Regarding the one about 3rd and long, it’s not like he started being a coach this year. And then the 4th and 1, he changed his mind mid answer.

your annual reminder that every single buyout number you see reported is fake because almost all these contracts have a duty to mitigate clause (he has to try to get a new, “comparable” job and his new salary offsets the buyout). since USC is private we don’t know for sure but it’s very common

I am not sure what is going to happen with the alma mater's football team this Friday evening in terms of outcome. But I have allowed myself the abillity to think about screaming my head off at Lincoln Riley in two weeks and I have to say, I am pretty excited.

I don't think Neal (I believe it was) slipped. He took a forearm to the head which in most countries is OPI. But slipping has been such an issue for PSU these last few seasons and then they do something to change it and the coach says the guy slipped!

As we have explored and talked about a ton of the blog and podcast, you can only ask so much and not return with something. I genuinely think if Penn State put just a tad more effort into taking care of fans, the convos happening today would not be happening.

010

Darian Somers @stuffsomerssays.com · 28/09/2026

But Pat Kraft's hire losing the Big Ten opener at home which is a thing many people who were IN LOVE with him fighting for about a few years ago is objectively very funny.

020

Darian Somers @stuffsomerssays.com · 28/09/2026

There were always going to be growing pains this year, especially with a billion transfers coming together. I am still bullish if they can correct things -- and if they don't, then I think it's fair to be A LOT more critical.

010

Darian Somers @stuffsomerssays.com · 28/09/2026

I am annoyed at the way Penn State lost last night. But I am also not one of these people that instantly thinks Campbell was a bad hire because of it. OB lost his first game. James was frustrating at the beginning. (Yes annoying at the end but overall he worked out)

Darian Somers @stuffsomerssays.com · 28/09/2026

It just hit me that Pat Kraft's hire lost the Big Ten opener that was played at home.

As an Android guy, I personally would just be annoyed being legally required to correct everybody by saying "well actually, it is NOT an iPad, but a Windows Surface Pro! They actually get better reviews from Consumer Reports at a MUCH more affordable price point!" before being stuffed in a locker.

Matt Campbell 7-5 over the last three seasons after a loss. (Technically 8-5 if you count the bowl and then a win to open the 2024 season).

The 72-yard TD Penn State gave up last night was third longest play it's allowed this decade from scrimmage.

Steve's Penn State Football Spreadsheet - Stuff Somers Says

What is it?

020

Darian Somers @stuffsomerssays.com · 27/09/2026

I have a hard time believing yesterday was 108k with those pictures, being there and the fact Penn State did not announce attendance only leaves more room for questioning.

110

Darian Somers @stuffsomerssays.com · 27/09/2026

Now -- and we have no way to know this for sure -- the problem is based on the pictures, it appears Penn State has or is giving tickets sold as the number, not tickets scanned.

110

Darian Somers @stuffsomerssays.com · 27/09/2026

Now, using Steve's Penn State football spreadsheet, the reported average attendance so far this season is 106,773 through three games. That includes one Big Ten game. Last year it was 106,750 but that was three non-con games.
