Does anyone get their own books printed offset in bulk? And if so, who you use? Looking for ideas beyond the likes of Clays and BookVault who both look fine but would work with a smaller, local printer who had the capacity or even a bigger one. Looking for a thousand or so books.

The sweetest 2 words to type! I’ve spent this weekend away from home to finish this book and I’m so pleased I’m finally there - it’s taken a long time and it’s been the hardest book to write and finish (maybe because it’s a sequel?) but it’s done! 🙌 Now the dreaded editing and rewrites! 😭

Happy Publication Day to me! And Happy New Year to everyone else! I decided to do a 'silent launch' for this book, but now it's launched, I hope people will begin to buy it and enjoy it! Think Frostblood or like a dark, older version of Frozen!

You can't let outcomes dictate the wisdom of your decisions. Sometimes you make the right call but it still doesn't go your way. Just knock it off as experience and double down. Failure is an important part of progression and you can never improve unless you're willing to fall.

The scene I wrote today was set in space - actual space - and sometimes when writing fiction we can become a bit complacent about awe and wonder of such things - but a timely reminder from @emmaread.bsky.social made me write about today it in a childlike, awed way and it was magical!

This year’s @theclpe.bsky.social #ReflectingRealities report is out today and it’s a must read for anyone in publishing. Sad to see that after much progress over the last few years, there’s a significant decrease in representation in children’s books. Publishers really need to stay engaged on this.

Fixed the headline. Patrick Ness is absolutely right. Until books for children and YA are included in notable lists, we think they should be referred to as lists for adults/grown-ups. Children's books are notable too and deserve to stand alongside others on round ups. #KidLitUk

This feels like a bit like starting secondary school… Sure you know people from your primary school, but there’s a whole new level of peer anxiety and an urge (which I’m resisting) to impress all these new people and fit in! I suppose we just need to be ourselves and know our people will find us!
