No, I don't know. French copyright is for 70 years after an author's death, so I don't think it can be that. Sartre's literary executor died a decade ago, and it's possible she blocked this. But it's curious.

In the editorial notes, there is also an indication that La Chair et le corps will be published. This is the manuscript on the c.16th century church which was abandoned as Foucault went back further historically, eventually writing Les Aveux de la chair/Confessions of the Flesh on the early church.

I won't ever defend these kind of prices, and was only asked to read the manuscript to write an endorsement. But Chris Philo's book in this series is scheduled for paperback c.18 months after hardback, so perhaps some hope this will become more accessible in time.
