Reform is a special party that gets promoted though. If there is a EHRC investigation and the Greens are found inoncent then, well, that would be interesting Risky though

Get rid of the motion as soon as possible and don't mess about before it kills your party. AGM, special postal vote. Gone.

The EHRC will have to open an investigation into the Greens now and you will probably be found guilty.

Which candidate country is doing the best in terms of joining the EU?
110
Stuart Budd @stuartbudd.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
Dr Chowns, someone needs to start making the positive case for the EU Currently, everyone seems to be talking about opt-outs, which demonstrates nothing has changed in the UK. Labour are pretty clueless and the LibDems have dud leadership. Nobody with a platform seems willing to even try though.

'Remainer' types in the other place are saying the UK doesn't have to join schengen or the Euro and Brexiter types are saying the opposite, so the UK isn't anywhere near ready to join anyway and is still stuck with thinking the US and NATO are trusted while everyone else within Europe has moved on.

It is very plausible The UK was subjected to propaganda that citizens from ex soviet countries are much better at spotting than Brits. I have experience of Polish calling out stuff from BBC Radio 4. It doesn't matter though as the UK won't be joining anytime soon due to the 60% debt requirement.

Actually, the 1970s referendum included a vote on a single currency and the percentage was 67% "The member countries now have ambitous plans for the creation of a common currency"

In the other place, 'remainers' are saying neither Schengen or the Euro are required Brexiters are saying they are. (both are required) At every level and at every turn, 'remainers' have kept Brexit alive. Lack of opposition, acceptance and now ignorance of the EU.

Stuart Budd @stuartbudd.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Here we are Schengen allows the UK to have a secure border via EU security databases. Euro allows the UK to have financial stability via a reserve currency. In the other place, 'remainers' are saying neither Schengen or the Euro are required Brexiters are saying they are. (both are required)

The video I watched did cover the four freedoms. In 2016 I voted remain mostly due to the GFA because leaving both the single market and the customs union would risk the peace process. I didn't really understand what was covered by customs and what was part of the single market though.

The UK at every level and every political party within England, apart from the Greens, still thinks option 3 is viable. 🤪 1. Accept rules with no say 2. Make the rules with others 3. 🦄 (defaults to option 1) Thus, the public chooses option 3 in polls because they have been informed it is viable.

We will see The people preventing EU membership now are the exceptionalists who are... Labour: Band touring, recognition of qualifications (while outside SM & customs) LibDems: Dublin & security (while outside SM & customs) One Nation Tories without a home: (different levels of feckedness 🤪)

There is a whole load of stuff over in the other place were people are making the legal argument that the UK doesn't have to join the Euro. I agree with you that an application should be done as soon as possible, even if the process takes decades because it will be a learning process for the UK.

This is because politicians have not been clear about the options. All have been talking about the 🦄 option up to now and still are. 1. Take rules with no say (no Schengen, Euro) 2. make rules with others (Schengen, Euro) 3. 🦄

This is why the chair of the Internal Market Committee is such a powerful role People in China are using EU supply chain legislation to gain better working conditions, which in turn will help EU manufacturers compete with China and help level the playing field.

Tbh Burnham thanked us,immigrants, for having come to🇬🇧 (par.#2 ⬆️) It hadn't happened since 2024,only insults+scorn ("squalid chapter","incalculable damage"). Sunak did thank us;likely no PMs before since 2016. I wasn't expecting that much, just let us be,but I'll take it even if it's just warm words.

Best part: "'My wallet was stolen and my Italian ID was inside,' she said. With a looming holiday, she contacted the Italian embassy to ask what she needed to do, but to her frustration quickly realised that it would be faster to gain Belgian citizenship than to wait for a remade Italian ID."

Why so many Italians are getting Belgian nationality
Belgium appears to be an easy place for Italians to come and be themselves. Many of those who do, love it and choose to formally become Belgian. But why?

So, word is PM Burnham doesn't want to have to go through accession or ref, so wants to talk directly to other leaders to get a special arrangement. Hence waiting until erhe summit. The leaders won't go outside the treaties. But they may offer a kind of SM deal if the UK drops the red lines and

A couple of really radical options - engage in Brussels with why the UK wants to talk and what the EU is actually prepared to offer - learn from what has mostly failed in the approach to the EU question for the last ten years Which would quickly narrow the path forward.

If I was running this, at PM Q's I would agree with Kemi Badenoch in her comments about the single market 😂 and then say, Britain is better than that and deserves better. So, the UK should be a member of the EU to work with our European partners for ... then add whatever @peterthurlow.bsky.social

This is wrong: "All guns blazing only gives Farage ammunition" OK, I have a question of @peterthurlow.bsky.social Why are left wing Labour types so scared of the far right? The Greens aren't scared of Farage, in fact it is the reverse. 😂 One Nation Tories are scared of Farage Why are Labour?

The GFA is clear. Everyone knows the rules. Burnham wants to own the rules, which helps nobody, not even unionists.

Possibly I only know the GFA and that isn't 60% but a clear majority. There should be similar legislation There is a lot of inward looking views in Scotland, similar to England. Europe have moved on with defence, without the UK. Border from 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 would be open until the English fix Brexit.

It is year three of a Labour govt and so far they have managed to agree *NOTHING* with the EU while I hear *EVERY* excuse possible as to why. Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak the *ACTUAL* Brexiter was PM for less than two years and delivered Horizon Europe. This is why Labour aren't elected very often.

Important thread on Labour and any 🇬🇧 / 🇪🇺 reset or join application I think this is the correct take Labour are too terrified and not that interested There are lots of 'pro EU' sounding words but the actions are anti EU on even things like treatment of EU citizens. Always watch the actions.

Every constituency now apart from four, supports joining the EU So, the issue isn’t the electorate. Both Labour and Tory supporters in England are stuck with political parties that are no longer functioning and the electorate don’t wish to face up to this fact.

Stuart Budd @stuartbudd.bsky.social · 29/09/2026
No, unfortunately I don’t think Starmer would have been better regarding the EU. Labour leaders now have abandoned Labour core values of citizens rights and migrant rights, which shows you Labour’s direction of travel in actions - which are incompatible with their words and the EU Depressing 🤷🏼‍♂️
