UK emigrant. Finally binned British passport to avoid saying: 'No todos somos racistas en reino unido' (we're not all racists in the UK but 52% of voters in 2016 probably were). UK's key challenge? Stop Reform's fascism. Almost vegan.. but cheese 🙄

The Conservatives really think people are stupid. "Leaving the EU can't be to blame because it happened years ago" They know very well that the damage caused by Brexit is long-term and that it gets worse every year. So pinning the blame on Brexit is exactly what should be done.

When there's a 'western world storm in a teacup' I prefer to stay out of it. How important is Sheeran to bereaved parents in Gaza? But 'unjustifiable'? Stop digging mate. Killing tens of thousands of children is what?.. 'maybe quite a good idea but a bit tricky to justify'? Sorry, you're disgusting.

Just received this response from the BBC. I'd asked if they were trying to promote Reform or if their political reporters are really so ignorant they didn't know only His Majesty's Official Opposition can have Shadow Ministers. Not much of a reply is it? We still don't know which is the explanation.

Can someone really work as a political reporter at the BBC if they don't know what a shadow minister is? Yes they've now corrected it, but this is ignorant at best. Or is someone at the corporation desperate to normalise Reform and their neo-fascist agenda?

'Judeo-Christian values' sounds like such a harmless phrase but it works perfectly for the far right. Ticks every box: Assert cultural supremacy. Whitewash pogroms. And the Holocaust. Justify homophobia. Support white nationalism. Oppose LGBTQ+ rights. Avoid openly racist language. Undermine DEI.

I think the BBC is the UK's most important cultural asset. It's made terrible errors and has caused widespread anger but it's not Fox News or Murdoch or Viscount Rothermere. For all its faults it's something to be defended. But that's difficult when it publishes loving reviews of a neo-nazi rally.

It's not hindsight. A year ago I posted this headline and suggested this comment made Mandelson an unsuitable choice for Labour. How is it possible that someone not even living in the UK could see this and Starmer couldn't? Does Starmer think it's funny to laugh at the idea of 'woke'?

Absolutely amazing chart from @peterkellner.bsky.social's piece in @thenewworldmag.bsky.social today: www.thenewworld.co.uk/peter-kellne...
A flow chart shows 17.4 million leave voters in 2016, vs 16.1m remain. In 2025, 5 million of those people have died, and 3 million new voters have come of age.

The result (plus some people changing their mind) is 19.8 million voters now back rejoin, versus just 11.7 million wanting to stay out.
