Here is how Huntsville transit ridership compares to other nearby cities of similar city/metro area size. Knoxville, Birmingham, and Chattanooga all blow Huntsville out of the water when it comes to transit ridership.

I recommend ABUS. Between $90 and $150 is the sweet spot for price to performance and weight.

I came to the same conclusion when getting a lock for my ebike, but I think a chain works better for areas with few bike racks. Its a real challenge locking up my cargo ebike even with a long U-lock at times. I used a chain to lock up my bike at home since I have no anchor point to use the u-lock.

As bad as Nextdoor is, at least they aren't extremely ban heavy like Reddit or Facebook are. I've had dozens of posts removed, but I've never been suspended or banned. Meanwhile on reddit, you can can be banned without even making a single post.

We set up a vendor tent today using just 2 bikes and a trailer! A couple of ebikes are a lot more capable for daily life than you may think :)

99 out of 100 times, the people who say public transit doesn't work due to low density *also* complain about too many apartments and other high density housing being built. Every city has too much density while also somehow not enough density for transit to work.

Not sure what you're looking for exactly, but, "What % of your trips are made without using your car" would be very useful data for me. Probably also useful at examining how the rise of ebikes and the rise of fuel prices are effecting transportation alternatives to driving.

I find it odd how rare scooters/mopeds are in North America. If a long commute or lack of bike infrastructure is why you can't bike, then a moped solves that.

Parking Reform Network @parkingreform.org · 01/09/2026
Removing a parking minimum does not remove parking. It removes the mandate. Different homes, businesses, and neighborhoods have different needs. Parking reform gives people more flexibility to respond to the place they actually have. More flexibility. Better choices. Fewer unnecessary barriers.

Are the vast vast majority of deaths involved with ebikes not from cars hitting them? I don't think weight of the bike or cyclist has played a role in very many ebike involved incidences.

Should we require riders who weigh 250 pounds to travel slower than riders who weight 200?

I've had multiple cyclists on regular bikes ride past me while I'm on my ebike. The weight difference between regular and ebikes are within variation of normal human weight.

Is a e-scooter also equally as dangerous? The dangerous ebikes are going a lot more than 20mph.

TODAY is the public input meeting for the bus rapid transit study along University at city hall
Today, the city will hold a public meeting to discuss findings on the University Drive Transit Oriented Development Study. The meeting will be from 6-8 p.m. in Room 621, Huntsville City Hall. Huntsville has the chance to have the best public transit of any city in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi with investment into a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line.

I feel like its not talked about enough that many people actually *WANT* luxury housing and are perfectly willing to pay a premium for it! Its not like people only choose "luxury" apartments because there is no other choice, its what a lot of people genuinely want!
