I think a lot of people think the point of sports is that your team will win and then you will be happy. That is not the point of sports. The point of sports is to be sad in a group

games like this duke/carolina game make me really miss theo john. what an absolute DOG he was on defense, just brash and in your business and in your head before you even know it. can we get him back on the squad before the NCAA fixes the rules or

Happy draft day to all who celebrate. If the Mavs don’t handle Cooper Flagg’s career perfectly, I am considering it an act of war.

I am never going to emotionally recover from watching Hali scream and pound the floor after his injury last night. I have many complaints about the game itself, but the top one is that it just sucks to lose the brightest star of the playoffs in the biggest game of the season. Get well soon, Hali!

The Pacers/Thunder game last night was honestly incredible. A superstar coming back while actively injured after he and his team slept through the last game only to play the tightest, most beautiful game of the series was absolute cinema. God bless basketball.

I know the Lakers are perhaps the most valuable franchise in history, $10 billion is just an unfathomable amount of money to me.

Nicole @strangermiracle.bsky.social · 18/06/2025

Cooper Flagg is ready for the league. I know people have high expectations for him, but I really think with the right team and right situation, he’ll surpass them all. @ Dallas Mavericks, do not fuck this up for me.

It’s nice to know it’s not just normal markets that are inflated, it’s also the NBA trade market. Bane is NOT worth all of this wtf

I love the Magic rebrand in every way, EXCEPT the font. Soulless corporate loser ass font.

This is also my fault, I turned the game off for a bit to get cute videos of my friend’s baby and clearly that canceled out my good juju.

Casty’s slutty little unbuttoned jersey will always be my favorite thing.

Phillies just needed me to watch in order to play correctly, apparently.

Wearing an Eagles jacket while I travel today. The woman next to me on my flight tapped me on the shoulder to say she loves my jacket, because even though she’s a Cowboys fan, “Jason Kelce is the best human to ever touch a football.” Adorable lol

Hearing rumblings of Scheyer adding a member of the brotherhood to the coaching staff, and I am hoping with all my heart that it’s Quinn Cook. One of the best humans to ever wear a Duke jersey, he embodies everything about what the brotherhood stands for and I would LOVE to have him home.

A Thunder-Pacers NBA Finals is the ultimate “Do you know ball?” litmus test. If you are excited about said matchup, congratulations! You know ball. If you are too preoccupied with TV ratings to enjoy said matchup, sadly, you do not know ball.

I had one of those super boring and realistic dreams last night where I was digging through a pile of my clothes and came across a couple of Celtics shirts that I bought because they were on sale, and the only way I knew it was a dream and not real life was bc I hadn’t cropped the shirts. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Man. Haliburton is SO likable. He started the season rough, but I feel like he’s really found his groove on the court and I LOVE seeing how his confidence has evolved and how he now looks for the shot just as much as, if not more than, he looks for the pass.

Nicole @strangermiracle.bsky.social · 24/05/2025

Cedric Coward is staying in the NBA draft and you really can’t blame the kid, he’s set himself up for success and there’s no guarantee he’ll get enough minutes at Duke to put him in a better position next year. Would’ve loved to have him, but will root for him in the league as if he had come anyways

I know the Warriors will be fine, but reading this has me GUTTED. Steph loves this so much, man. I would do anything for him to be healthy and be a god in the playoffs.

Nicole @strangermiracle.bsky.social · 04/05/2025

Thinking about how on Friday night this guy was being utterly relentless about hitting on me for hours... until he made the mistake of bringing up basketball and said Steph is overrated. Let me tell you, that man will have no fond thoughts about me now. 😌💙

James Harden with a classic James Harden game tonight eh? Disappearing in the playoffs is quintessential Harden.

Listening to Cedric Coward talk about why he chose Duke makes him instantly a favorite for me going into the season. He’s so thoughtful and intentional, and he really sees the vision. LFG.

Nico Harrison looks even worse after this. He’s seeking a complete yes-man culture, toxic positivity to the extreme, and it’s moronic and unnecessary. Fuck that guy forever.

Cooper was everything I hoped he would be and more. Exemplary human, incredible player, committed to his team and his growth in a way that made him loved and respected by literally everyone. God, I’m going to miss him. I’m in mourning.

I am afraid of the possibility that we’ve seen the last of Pop on the bench. He’s an all-time great coach, and the idea of him going out not on his terms really and truly sucks.

Henderson decommitting from Duke is a drag, but also understandable, especially if we get Rese and Slim back. He’d be FIGHTING for those minutes. I like him, think he’s got wicked potential, but gimme returns over freshmen any day.

Caleb Foster coming back for Duke is huge. I think a vet presence is critical for championship teams, and Caleb has seen it all. I’m so excited and so proud he’s ours.
