A while back I shared the debut of my original character, Zor, the lovable beast who lives for cooking. I keep meaning to go back and build his story more, because he's a great vehicle to talk about the ups and downs of the creative process. Here are some Moldy Oldies of Zor from a few years ago

Six panels with no text, showing the large, friendly-looking, goat-like beast, Zor, excitedly undertaking the process of baking his own birthday cake.

The cake fails, a puddle of liquid batter in the middle. Zor weeps against a wall while a poster of his idol, Julia Child, beams cheerfully upon the scene.

Seated at a table, Zor stares at his failure, dejected, until...

Single panel - SCHLORP goes the sound of a spoon digging into the pile of goop that was supposed to be his birthday cake. A single candle tops the confectionery hillock.

Perhaps a middle option, like flavored water, lemon water, or cold unsweetened tea (like green tea or barley tea)? Whatever liquid you can stand that gets you hydrated without all the sugar of soda pop is a big step in the right direction. It takes time for the palette to adjust in any case.

I feel this. I think BG3 spoiled me. Of course it's unfair of me to compare its character creator with that of a much older game, like say, DA: Inquisition, but I tried that one recently and man...I just couldn't...actually, Skyrim's even older and I think *that* had a better character creation 🤔

I totally agree! I remember enjoying it when I saw it in the theater the first time, but felt underwhelmed compared to Shawn of the Dead. Once I got the DVD though, repeated viewings revealed so many hidden gags, call backs, and visual storytelling that I hadn't registered before.
