Furthermore, can we not get a rematch every single year? It's bad enough that half of the last season was returner matches, and most of them actively disinterested me. I'd prefer rematches to stay every once a few years to make room for new ideas, especially if we're getting fewer episodes a year.

As much as I loved the newest Death Battle episode, we gotta stop with the media res setups. 5 out of the 8 episodes this year skipped the setup, and while you can infer what most of them were, removing the setups has been an active detriment to the writing, and I'd like to see less of that.

i took part in a game jam and put out my first game in something like 8-9 years, and first time ever solo didn't post about it because i shipped it with a bug that turned it into an rngfest and was gonna wait until i finished patching it ...BUT THINGS HAVE CHANGED

The results for my game jam game, Carry The Flame. Out of 48 entrants, I placed 1st. I won in the Theme and Audio categories, and every other one is at least top 10. Scores are omitted, besides Overall, which is 3.970.

If the PS6 is gonna be digital only, fine, whatever, but here’s the thing; It‘s not competing with consoles with physical media. It’s competing with Steam, an actual consumer friendly service that’s completely free. Why pick PlayStation over Steam, especially with Sony being so anti-consumer lately?

Hey guys, sorry I’ve been mostly inactive. I’m doing okay, but I’m still gonna be taking it easy for the most part, but I’m coming back briefly to say that today is my birthday!

A graphic of the solar system, with the planets nowhere near to scale (Earth is about half the size of Jupiter.) Mars has been replaced with a very spherical Meisho Doto, from Umamusume.

54. The Game Awards 2025 Nothing really piqued my interest but it was fun to watch this with friends. I also just wanna add that I've heard nothing but good things about Expedition 33, and had an interest in playing it. Is it weird that it winning nine awards including GOTY has me more intrigued?

53. Ash Ketchum VS Yugi Muto | DEATH BATTLE If I could describe this episode in one word, it's PEAK! Up there as one of my all time favorites in the whole show! For more detailed thoughts... y'know what, I'm gonna save that for the ranking video now that the whole season's finished.

52. Alien Stage Oh hey, something else I watched in person with @hellsgalaxy.bsky.social! Really good musical with some very well done animation, but man, without spoiling anything, I just feel sad now

StormsOfLight @stormsoflight.bsky.social · 09/11/2025

To clarify, I meant watched in person. We watched almost every episode in between Omni-Man VS Homelamder and this together, just over Discord.

51. Dante VS Clive | DEATH BATTLE Glad to have Torrian back, and he and the other animators cooked with this one. Easily the better of the two episodes I watched with my girlfriend @hellsgalaxy.bsky.social Now if we can stop with the returners for a while, that would be greeeeeeeat

And you know what? This thread's getting a double feature today. 50. Fortnite I certainly get why this has been popular for almost a decade now, but the whole "explore a giant map while looking for action and you have to queue up all over again if you lose" premise isn't my cup of tea personally.

49. Chara VS Sonic.EXE | Nebula Theatre Sprite episodes have been missing from Death Battle for an ungodly amount of time, so to see this reach their standard level of quality makes me happy to finally have that niche filled. Plus this being a new versus show makes me excited for what's to come!

I’ll wait for the full episode to come out before I pass judgment, but the analysis so far is making me feel even more justified on this being the last straw for the returner over saturation.

I just want to put it out there that I would like a ban on the word "slop" and its usage to provide ineffable "critiques". Read a book, improve your lexicon that way. Stop just regurgitating buzzwords from content creators with the knowledge of a potato and get your own opinions

48. Corpse Bride The creativity in the humor was what stuck out to me the most in this movie, but I did also enjoy the story it had to tell too. Glad to finally watch this after only having seen bits and pieces of it previously.

47. Coraline The foreshadowing to later events felt a bit too obvious at times during the first half or so, but other than that, yeah I really enjoyed this movie, and its overall concept. Plus the visuals were great at times too. Glad this was chosen to be a movie night in a friend's server.

For those that need context, #DeathBattle Season 7 had half of its episodes comprised of Marvel and/or DC characters, which also got repetitive, and it soured those two franchises on the show for me for a while, and now I feel the same about returners. I hope to god we get less of them next year.

000

StormsOfLight @stormsoflight.bsky.social · 14/10/2025

Months ago, I did a thread talking about this very issue in regards to #DeathBattle, but now more than ever before, this needs to be called out. Returners are a cool novelty, but it gets very fatiguing if they're taking up half a season's worth. In other words, close enough. Welcome back Season 7!

46. Blade VS Buffy | DEATH BATTLE Yeah this was peak. Easily the best live action episode, and up there as one of my personal favorites in the whole show. It's crazy what the standards for the show have become these days.

For those who need context, back in 2013, I was in another community where I participated in Survivor type stuff regularly. That time period isn't one I like reminiscing about, but it could be because I was very young at the time (12-13). I'm interested to see where Champions' Island goes though.

031

StormsOfLight @stormsoflight.bsky.social · 30/09/2025

So Death Battle is doing Champions' Island, where fictional characters are split into teams, and we have to do challenges to keep them immune from elimination... Close enough, welcome back 2013. But also...
