1/25 The night of 9 October 1799, a British frigate ran onto a sandbank off the Dutch islands of Vlieland and Terschelling. Some 240 people were aboard; one survived. She carried gold and silver worth around a million pounds. Most of it is still down there. #maritimehistory #otd
