I got a data entry temp job. Me and a room full of other unemployed 20-something’s during the recession. We had *massive* spreadsheets of data, and were instructed to manually copy each cell, one cell at a time, from one spreadsheet platform to another. I left at lunchtime.

I would like someone who is better with $ to explain why this amendment is needed to accomplish the stated goal. The goal is to increase annual distribution to 4.5%. The experts say the fund earns 8% annually. Why do we have to eliminate to protection against reducing principal to do that?

GrOtto @stone-grotto.bsky.social · 16/10/2026
Instead of eliminating current protections against decreasing the education fund’s principal (which ensures the fund’s longer viability), the Legislature should just spend more money on schools annually.

I actually think I’m voting against the consituational amendment. I do encourage folks to compare the new language with the current language. And look at what we’re *actually* changing. In fact, I think the way the ballot describes the change to voters is deeply misleading.

One thing I didn’t realize until having a school age child is how rad it is to be like “yeah sorry it’s MEA no fucking work. Nothing you send me exists.”

“Dada how do you spell Korean?” “What?” This eventually resulted in a big meltdown over the correct spelling of Korean. I don’t like rainy days.

The phone of someone who was a child several decades ago when a (alleged) crime was (allegedly) committed by a person who died more than half a decade ago is …. Let’s just say it is v. difficult to see how that could possibly be a legal.

Last time I practiced criminal law (not that long ago) there was a requirement that the things to be seized and places searched had to have a “nexus” to the crime being investigated. As in, yeah this thing or place is something that would be reasonable to think could contain relevant evidence.

The name of the school is North Woods School. Its principle is Kelly Engman. It is a public school in St. Louis County School District (ISD 2142). North Woods “banned more books from its library than every other public school in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and North and South Dakota — combined.”
startribune.com
All 80 books banned in Minnesota last year came from one school
Parents objected, a new library assistant was fired and books that included ‘Charlotte’s Web’ and a kids’ cookbook were gone from a public school near Lake Vermilion.

No specifics. “Because approximately 80% of our budget is devoted to personnel, the recommendations will need to consider staffing as well as other expenses, including positions directly affected by lower enrollment and currently unfilled non-school positions.”

No biggie. Just an email from SPPS superintendent notifying parents that, likely due to the metro occupation, enrollment district wide is down by “several hundred” students this year, which means SPPS likely needs to make staff cuts.

I feel that my spouse and I are more hip than my parents were at my age. And that’s definitely, absolutely not something a washed up 43 year old thinks about himself.

There will be a lot of equivocating about all the times search warrants have been executed on members of Congress for corruption investigations and the like, and it can't be stressed enough in how many ways HSI raiding Ilhan Omar is extremely not like that.

This is insane. The victim’s sister used his photo (doctored to better his appearance) and his recorded voice to make an AI-generated video speaking to the defendant, which some moron prosecutor *played* during the sentencing hearing. “This here is a true representation of who I was.” —AI video.

It’s weird that the experience of, “damn where the hell am I” is mostly eradicated (except for like wildness shit). Multiple times as a teenager I missed a travel baseball game because I wasnt in the caravan and got wildly lost on the way. Also—are teams just not doing caravans anymore? CRAZY!

Ron schutz’ claim in the debate that he’ll take every fraud case to trial and never plea is absurd. He’s talking about bringing fraud prosecution to a standstill because every lawyer is constantly tied up for a full month for trial and prep. You’d have to like triple staff to maintain capacity.

I don't think people really appreciate the gravity of what is happening in the news industry. If you value getting reliable information from the news orgs you depend on, you need to support them with your dollars or they could disappear. This isn't hyperbole. It's happening right now in real time.

Note that the article quotes one of the two board members as experiencing significant family medical issues, but then does no follow up reporting on that or give readers any reason to think it’s untrue. Also combining number absences between two people is … an odd way to communicate this.

City council 100% had to approve defense and indemnification for mayor. But can someone explain why they couldn’t pick a different firm? Typically, city employees don’t get a choice. They get the city attorney or they pay their own way. Totally could be an explanation. I’m out of my depth here.
