My latest @newscientist.com cartoon
Panel 1: a large robot (composed of AI servers, network switches, storage arrays, and power distribution units) and a human are talking.

Professor "You don't want to destroy humanity do you, lLLM-A-9300x?"

Robot "Haha. What a silly question, Professor. I have no desires or feelings of my own whatsoever."

Professor (relieved)"Oh good."

Panel 2: they walk on. The robot continues "I am merely a tool of the company that created me. And that company, being composed of humans, will naturally have humanity's best interests at heart."

Panel 3: The professor is conspicuously quiet.
"Right?" says the Robot.
…
More silence

"Professor?"

I want a Firefox extension that knows how to replace every single "N months ago" label with the actual exact timestamp (using patterns for how the data is hidden in tooltips, click-to-expand, etc.). That shit is SO unhelpful. Like if I'm looking back at git history, I don't care that a change […]

People who prefer ketchup over mustard are annoying because as soon as you say you like mustard, they go on and on about how much they hate it. Like, okay. You have the same flavor palette you had when you were 5 but that doesn't mean you should insult what I put in my coffee.

The FIFA Prize for Literature

Following the success of their Peace Prize, FIFA establishes a literary prize judged by the footballers at the world cup.

(image of trophy)

 All does not go well...

Players arrive at games exhausted by reading hundreds of novels and heatedly debating their merits long into the night.

(image of tired players on pitch reading)

The south American teams boycott the tournament when an official disparages Isabel Allende's use of magic realism.

(Image of players angrily leaving)

Seventeen plavers receive red cards after a discussion of radical honesty in the works of Karl Ove Knausgaard turns into a brawl.

(Image of players fighting)

However, all is forgiven as Joyce Carol Oates takes the thrilling final to extra time, before losing on penalties to Haruki Murukami.
