Made basic beginners guide to using the camera in storyboards. the gist being the camera is for revealing information & telling the story. Obviously there's exceptions to this, but when you're just starting out trying to get these ideas down first before moving on to crazier dynamic stuff. 1/4

every artist should study maquettes. It's hard to find them irl, but places like sketchup and artstation often have 3d-rotate-able sculpts for you to study. I try to envision everything I draw in this way

a brownish clay sculpture of Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet. She's a cat-like woman wearing a nautical uniform

a brownish clay sculpture of the main antagonist from the Boxtrolls, his name escapes me right now. He's a spindly looking man with exaggeratedly thin spider-like limbs, a long face, and a huge hat

a brownish clay sculpture of one of the characters from Disney's The Sword In The Stone, the older knight who trains Wart by making him do chores. He's wearing a large metal breastplate and has a huge moustache

a brownish clay sculpture of an official looking woman with short hair, who clutches some papers and lowers her glasses at you.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.

Let’s see, a new pinned post maybe. I am an illustrator and I also make pictures with my own hands for animation and games sometimes.

I was so touched by all the kind messages I received yesterday. It has given me a lot of encouragement for what will now be a big swing: My next animated project will be the first episode of a gothic horror interpretation of the Nutcracker called "Clara and the Below."

My new pins are back in stock!! I was a bit unprepared for just how much you guys liked these last time. rjpalmerstore.com/collections/...

enamel pins of pokemon done in the monster hunter icon style. Tyranitar, garchomp, rayquaza, espeon, umbreon, sylveon, gengar, lucario, and flygon. The umbreon, rayquaza, and gengar are the real big sellers and sold out the first day I put these up last time. Hopefully I have enough now but you never know.

a drawing of a lil guy with a dismembered shrivelled arm in his hands. a ghostly figure is around the corner. there is a fairy tale border around the image.

The main reason it took so long outside the obvious is that originally I was planning to just do the canon designs for the items but after doing my Link redesign I foolishly decided to redesign every single item. Not counting Link himself there are 87 items in there.
