Interesting use of the pardon power and what it communicates: the administration is taking action against drug traffickers in the Caribbean while also pardoning a convicted drug trafficking from the same region. Seems contradictory and shows pardon power is solely up to the president.

Noticed this in recent days as Pres. Trump came into office. There is a replica of the FIFA World Cup trophy on the table behind the Resolute Desk, and it struck me as a bit odd. I know the US is co-hosting the tournament next year and it was announced during his 1st term. But still seems odd?
