Saw a shitty AI cartoon & decided I could do better with my 15 minute break and my phone, and I did.
Picture from a trail camera shows two deer with antlers. Speech bubble from the deer on the left says "So many cameras these days!". Speech bubble from the deer on the right says "If you're not doing anything wrong there's nothing to worry about."

Anyone I know have any info about the trustee candidates for ward 5 & 10? Any of them stand out as the progressive pick?

I can't tell if this is AI. Brad has already been caught using AI to fake engagement with his platform online, but I wouldn't have put this past him even before that was revealed. If true, makes me think much less of Geddy, that's for sure. As for Brad, I still think he sucks, so no change there.

Brad Bedford promising to DOGE the Toronto government was not on my bingo card, but it probably should have been.

Outside of "strong Mayor powers", or whatever the maple maga version of fascist US power structure Doug made is called, the mayor is only 1 vote on council. Any mayoral candidate who promises outcomes that would hinge on a council vote, & anyone who believes them, is either lying, stupid, or both.

Well, that nicely confirms that Carney's "We'll arrest him if he comes here" threat was nothing more than populist virtue signaling.

The city's own 'find your poll' site doesn't have my correct postal code and is saying my polling station will be clear across the ward instead of the one (where it has been every election for the past two decades) that's a 10 minute walk away.

@joeycoleman.ca do you have any info or insight regarding why it seems like mail-in ballots are not an option for this election?

The Bearded Giant @stewfromhamont.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
The City of Hamilton truly hates disabled people. Looks like there will be no mail-in ballot options for the 2026 municipal election.

I probably went a little overboard, could have easily got by with half that😅. I saw the cost of another 12 pack of modern razor blades & went looking for a cheaper alternative. Jokes on me I guess, but the blades will be considerably cheaper at less than 10¢ per shave once I find one I like.

I switched to a double edge safety razor for my head a while ago & I don't think I've ever had as big a section for one thing on the bathroom shelf as I do now. All (save the razor variety pack) Canadian made & manufactured or imported from Europe & sold by Canadian small business.

Was one of the main architects behind the treatment & eventual ousting of Jama from the party. Won't respond to any questions about Palestine or her stance thereon. The list goes on.

Anyway, Paul Miller has always been a true fake progressive. Blind party loyalty leads to less than impressive leaders. Extremism in all forms is bad.

Even with Andrea's last four years justifying all of my concerns, I still have no intention of ever working on a campaign any of them are involved with ever again.

Didn't matter that I'd spent countless hours over the past decade volunteering my time and labour for so many progressive political campaigns. I questioned the motives, abilities, & convictions of the great leader, so I no longer one of the flock.

4 yrs ago I got tarred with the epithet "fake progressive" by many because I wouldn't blindly pledge allegiance to Andrea's mayor bid just because of her (at the time) current position in the ONDP. I wasn't even working on any campaign that election, I just occasionally voiced questions or concerns.

Tim Hortons launched several new items for their Harry Potter collaboration. The foreign owned coffee chain that still uses a maple leaf in their branding to trick people into thinking they are still Canadian announced that a portion of all sales will go to their Conversion Camp Day fund.
Lilac purple background that gradients through different shades. Top middle is a red maple leaf with a white "Tims" across it. Under which in large capital letters says "CONVERSION CAMP DAY". The word Conversion is white with a red border, while Camp Day is alternating blue and yellow letters with a white border. Underneath shows 4 Harry Potter themed donuts and 1 Harry Potter themed donut box.

To any leftist, progressive, or even left-leaning voters in #HamOnt who've strategically voted; how'd that work out for you? Did you 'hold your nose' to vote Liberal in the last election? How happy are you with Carney? What if instead we all voted for the candidate who best represents our beliefs?

"At his event, Loomis also released the results of a robocall poll commissioned by his campaign showing he was the preferred choice for 38 per cent of decided respondents, followed by Horwath at 24 per cent, Cooper at 22 per cent *and Scarlett Gillespie at nine per cent.*

The poll also noted 35 per cent of the 921 respondents answered "unsure" when asked to choose a preferred candidate and so were excluded from the results.

The top issues — which respondents selected from a list — included homelessness, keeping taxes low and housing affordability, as well as the cost of living, and city roads and infrastructure."

Ontario Premier Ford announced today that his Government will be filing a lawsuit against the US Forest Service. The suit alleges that Smokey the Bear, the US Forest Service's mascot, was not specific enough in pointing out exactly who can prevent forest fires.
