Here's @fatimabsyed.bsky.social with the Ford government's final plan for amalgamating conservation authorities (ever so slightly less than first proposed), what the province is budgeting and what we know about how it'll work: thenarwhal.ca/ontario-cons...

I'm on top of a volcano in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean 1400km from the nearest continent. They put permeable pavers in a high traffic area. I never want to hear anyone again say they can't implement LID in their project again.

Want to highlight the work of Dr. Kristi Allain on this topic. She's build an entire career dissecting many of the more toxic elements of hockey culture. I'm always a huge fan of hers and I'm sure she has some thoughtful insight into all of this. kristi-allain.com/doncherry

Aye, I miss old twitter. What I actually miss was ye olde days of bulletin boards / fourms. I really think that the reluctance of media companies to pull back from the porn/snuff site formerly known as twitter really put the nail in the coffin over here.

This goes for all sorts of institutions. In most organizations its considered a nuisance or a waste of an leaders time to engage with the frontline staff or organizers. We build systems that isolate leaders from the "noise".

010

Dylan Radcliffe @stewardsnotes.bsky.social · 14/01/2026

The thing about political parties abandoning a grass roots approach is that they're very easily able to never face their base. When was the last time MC, JS, or PP ever had to actually have a real conversation with one of their canvassers or organizers? When was the last time most MPs ever had to?

Big fan of this very hopeful speech. I know Cory is all over the internet, but this is worth a watch. My concern after listening is that we've created systems of bureaucracy that have rewarded leaders who stand for nothing and work tirelessly to maintain the status quo. How do we change that?

Duck Duck Go seems to be the default alternative, I've been using Brave search as it works a bit better for some things I search for. Unfortunately all these search engines use either the Bing or Google search index on their backend. Looking forward to this: www.eu-searchperspective.com

As a final note, people need to stop using chrome and feeding google all your browsing data for free. I dunno the appeal of chrome, it's feature parity with a million other browsers. Firefox + Ublock origin is soo much better. Or go one further and install Floorp or Waterfox + Ublock

I suspect you'd need to replace one form of social networking with another. Conferences, Trade Shows, Events, etc. etc. Honestly, a lot of businesses are stepping back from social media and not noticing much of an impact on sales. I imagine this would very from sector to sector.

This is great. I also think there's a great opportunity to reuse old GPUs in consumer products. I found an old low profile GPU that was used on a 1U rack mount and added it to an old dell mini ITX. It's now a handy little media server in our living room!

This really resonated with me. For someone with a few quirks and had a hard time fitting in, the internet really was quite a pleasant place to meet and engage. These days, it feels like I'm exploring a ghost town. Constantly trying to figure out where all the people went.
