Not the stupidest, but today I refrained from responding to a Neo reference with a Bill and Ted gif.

I think it’s about time we had Richard E Grant as the Doctor (yes, I know about Comic Relief and the Shalka). He could then do a ‘Two Doctors’ story with Paul McGann where they go on holiday by mistake.

Following on from yesterday's stuff about the time and energy needed to make community happen. We're all exhausted but we have each other.

I joined a work call today that was a presentation as part of Black History Month. The solidarity and encouragement to stand up for each other, across our differences, felt really special and meant a lot to hear.

Bridgerton is in the top ten biggest Netflix series according to Wikipedia. It is consistently the biggest selling genre in books. I do read romance books. A good romance says something about being human. So I'm with Tara on this one.

A few years ago there was a tiny twig of a grape vine for sale at lidl, and I took pity on it. It's a wine grape variety, so it doesn't product sweet grapes. I have just taken a gamble and fried up some chicken, grapes, and fresh mint. Very tasty with some rice veggies

Have already submitted my seed order via the allotment group. Saves me about a third on seed costs, although I'm also eyeing up various options from real seeds.

I was able to get some overtime at work (rare), and I was looking forward to putting the money into savings for fun things. Then the car broke. And now I have a tooth infection (which is likely to result in root canal). Sigh.

I think we've finally found a winter squash variety that is accepted as edible by my partner. The seeds were a gift last Christmas www.thompson-morgan.com/p/squash-mas... They've grown well (next to no watering), and we've simply baked them in the airfryer.

Blight has entered the chat. All tomatoes were splitting anyway, and I've had over 11kg of fruits, so I'm not crying over the lost harvest. Next year fewer plants in the hopes of more order* and more sensible harvest. No one managing an allotment alone needs 30 tomato plants. *lol

I grew a bush black bean from realseeds.co.uk/otherbeans.h... this year. Had to resow some of them due to slugs but they have quietly gotten on with things and for a few plants been very productive. Easy to grow, harvest, prep for storage. Have yet to eat, but should be good.

The literacy crisis is not just referring to people's ability to literally read and write. It's also people's inability to read for context. I've been a public educator for over 20 years and I have never, ever seen it this bad.

I've been thinking about the fact that trans people are being forced to ourselves or risk disciplinary action at work thanks to the toilet stuff. Is an Englishman's home his castle? Is privacy not therefore a British value?

Took one look at the photo and went "that's Bruton". And then read the alt text. Fun fact - the millennium fireworks were delayed by 5-10 minutes at the request of Sexey's Hospital to allow time for the residents to pray. Or so I was told at the time.

The free rider problem is the defining factor in whether someone is left or right wing, this is because if you think free riders are a problem you tend not to be intellectually curious enough to understand long chains of cause and effect.

It was really interesting to visit France recently and see so many public toilets aren't segregated. Many you had to walk past the urinals to get to the cubicles.

More than anything else, do something kind for someone today- a compliment, a small gift. Make their day better. Live to watch the bodies of your enemies float by on the river.

When I get a spare minute I'm going to be bothering my MP along the lines of "when one of our most significant ports is held to standstill, with businesses losing money, and families trapped in their cars by a group of people hiding their identities - that is an act of violence. What ya doing?"

I think between home and the allotment I planted out something like 30-40 plants. There's probably 20 here in this raised bed alone. Anyway, I also picked over 4kg of fruit yesterday. About 11kg total so far this season.

Photo of part of my allotment, showing the small raised keyhole. It's planted full of tomato plants, but they're still fairly contained because this was taken much earlier this year.
