Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 6hSee, the mole men were trying to stop us from taking our oil and we hired the aliens. See, aliens love the taste of mole man flesh. Win win, right? So that’s why I’m bullshitting you. Imagine if I actually believed this shit 010
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 6hThey pinned them on the Girl Scouts back a while ago but that’s not actually true. It’s actually the aliens that the government hired to take care of the mole men, hidden beneath subterrerea. 210
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 6hSo I was looking at how various things are connected, the media, the government, and our socioeconomic environment. You know crop circles? 100
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 6hI was chatting with Claude and now bear with me here, I know this might sound crazy, but just hear me out, okay? 110
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 7hI was thinking of using ratings but ai systems might stop optimizing for completion and instead aim for knee-jerk high ratings then phone in the rest of the game. Not sure how you’d go about fitnessing for new ideas. Web research whether or not the idea has been used before? 000
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 7hI’m not sure. Retention might not necessarily be desired because if folks latch onto an earlier game and never try your later games then you lose them as data sources. Then again, if retention is the goal, mission complete? 100
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 23hI know how I can metaphor some stuff. Trans woman was obvious to me for reasons. Other stuff, I dunno 000
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 23hOh, I think I was a tad bit unclear with my intentions. My question is not “how can I avoid doing fascism?” My question is “how can I code folks so readers can reasonably argue I’m doing representation?” 110
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Or a racism. Or white supremacy. Or allocentrism. Or whatever else. 010
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I want, say, black trans girl readers, for instance, to have very justifiable reasons for head canoning characters as black/trans/girl. I don’t want to be explicit though. Main reason: the idea is to focus on “superhero stunt driver schlop” but without accidentally doing a Fascism 210
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I **know** that fandoms default to that with minimal variation “cis and gay but still white”, for instance 110
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I’m a tad bit silly. “Straight cishet” bruh, “straight + het”? A touch redundant, nah? lol 000
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I’m aiming for a “superhero stunt driver schlop” vibe but I don’t want the characters to only be perceived as straight cishet allosexual white men, y’know? 210
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Other electric vehicle drivers might call Wheeler a fake EV driver who switched purely to get in with the EV crowd. Many [Organization] EV drivers do accept Wheeler, however. I’m sure you can parse this example’s underlying metaphor. Other stuff though, I dunno. 110
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026My intention is to make heavy use of metaphor. For instance, Agent Wheeler drove muscle cars for their entire tenure with the organization but it never fit quite right. They experiment with electric vehicles and folks say that it’s a big change and folks might not treat them well. 110
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026How would y’all approach this? Are there any works of fiction you’ve seen handle this particularly well (or badly)? 100
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I don’t want to fall into the trap of making someone “Stereotype McStereotype” just so readers can figure out what demographic they belong to. But I also don’t want characters awkwardly announcing personal information for the audience’s benefit. 100
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026The problem is figuring out how to communicate any of that naturally when the audience can’t see what they look like and mostly only encounters them on the job. 100
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I want the characters to be a diverse bunch of people. Different races, ethnicities, nationalities, genders, sexualities, religions, cultures, backgrounds, etc. 100
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026They wear full-body concealing suits, and readers never see them without their suits. Not because their identities are necessarily secret, but because I’m not writing scenes about their home lives. 100
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026For context, I’m writing about an organization of stunt drivers who basically do superhero stuff through ridiculous vehicular acrobatics. 100
Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Question for y’all: How do you communicate a character’s identity, background, or other personal characteristics when their appearance is completely concealed, without resorting to stereotypes? 100

Steve @stevelikesrobots.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I wonder if it would be possible to evolve a video game? Like setup an AI agent to make a video game every week, publish it, and use user ratings/comments/feedback to make the next week’s game. Pause, am I suggesting this as a serious endeavor? Do I look like I’m about to open a Steam publishing? 100
