You’ve got it all wrong. Russia isn’t the enemy. Putin is Trump‘s friend. The enemy is Canada. We live in an upside down world. The past is no longer relevant to the present or the future

That's very sad. In the 1970s, CFNY was my constant companion while I was doing university assignments. I enjoyed the variety of music and on-air people. I read a post on FB from him a few days ago saying that he was in hospital. My condolences to you and all those who knew him personally.

I wish that I shared your optimism in the First Amendment. Even if a court rules against Trump, he will just reword his order. If that fails, he will get Ellison or Musk to buy the offending media companies. Problem solved.

The US debt now exceeds $40 trillion. What's an extra $1.2 trillion to Trump if if secures his power? When you are a god (or you depict yourself as one in memes), there are no limits or boundaries.

Nothing is illegal for Trump. The Supreme Court gave Trump absolute immunity from prosecution. On paper the law says that this $5,000 scheme is illegal. Not for the "catch me if you can" president. Norms, laws and precedent mean nothing to the orange one.

Yes, I run into this all the time. If there’s no Canadian option, I’ll buy from anywhere else in the world before I buy American. And if the only choice is from the U.S., I’ll go without.

Elephant don't forget. Neither should Canadians. The US is polarized and it is just a matter of a few votes in any election that will determine whether we have a friend or foe in the president's office. I only see that polarization hardening.

Prime Minister Mark Carney said it best today: Canada will not trade away its language, culture, or sovereignty for a bad deal. America has changed, and its signature is increasingly written in pencil. Time to stand firm, match the tariffs dollar-for-dollar, and protect who we are.

If reports of the deal Trump extracted from Canada are true, I’m disgusted. I’d rather endure U.S. tariffs than see Canada bow to American pressure. Our dignity today. Our sovereignty tomorrow. Why is North Korea now a better friend to the U.S. than Canada?

A beach by a lake in the mountains. Blue sky, trees, pretty water. In the foreground there are the remnants of a tree trunk on its side. Roots are exposed. There are two prominent branches at 90 degrees that have another 90 degree turn in each direction to meet back up in what appears to be a natural rectanglish shape.

Yes, Trump looks like an idiot. He gets disgraced repeatedly but among Republicans, his support is still at 80%. Among MAGA, it’s higher than 90%. His core pay no attention to his flaws. Criticisms slide off him. What is needed is a viable, fresh alternative that excites and will clean the rot.

President of MIT not mincing words today in @statnews.com www.statnews.com/2026/05/27/s...
So let me say it as clearly as I can: Without basic scientific research, supported by the kind of farsighted public investment that allows large-scale, undirected, curiosity-driven inquiry, the scientific pipeline will run dry.
In daily life, people may not feel the effects right away, or even in 10 years. But we will feel it. And when someone we love needs therapies that could have emerged but didn't or when other countries now
investing in science can launch new science-based industries or run their societies on vast resources of fusion energy or reap the benefits of quantum computing power or advanced medical breakthroughs, America will wish it sustained its leadership in scientific research here and now.
Sally Kornbluth is the president of MIT.
