This is an amazing video - I think @markhamhislop.bsky.social & Max both make very good points, and I really appreciate Markham noting that while Canada's grid is very clean, we're very bad at making use of it. In part that's because our grid has grown very slowly - 2015-2024 we failed on renewables

As we anticipate a social media ban to be proposed by the Canadian government tomorrow, it's worth noting in the Charter of Rights: "everyone" includes young people and "media of communication" includes social media.
Fundamental freedoms

2 Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms: …

(b) freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;

Trust Fractures: AI, Law, and the Small Cracks Worth Watching
Discourse on AI and the law often centres on the prospect (or lack thereof) of catastrophic injury to existing legal institutions and structures. Will AI tools decimate the legal profession, replacing all the lawyers? Or will lawyers who use AI simply replace lawyers who do not? Will our courts be overrun by hordes of robo-judges? Or is human decision-making essential and here to stay? These debates have proved remarkably resilient. Huge pet peeve: No, “Harvard University” didn’t publish a study, and nor is it proper to say that it is “according to Nature.” Universities don’t publish studies, professors do. And unless it’s an editorial, journals don’t say things either—authors do.
