I just came across Omarchy Mobile, an experimental project that brings native Linux to the Google Pixel 7 Pro. Instead of Android, it runs Arch Linux ARM with a mainline Linux kernel, Hyprland and a touch-friendly interface based on Omarchy. What's already working? GPU acceleration, the 120 Hz display, touchscreen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth audio, NFC, GPS and fingerprint unlocking. But there's still a long way to go. Calls, SMS and mobile data aren't working yet, so it's not ready to replace your everyday phone. Still, it's fascinating to see how far Linux can go on smartphone hardware.
