A few years ago I found $5 in a rarely-worn jacket pocket. Such a thrill! I put it in my pants pocket and forgot about it. A few months later I found it again. Yay! So I hid it again, and again. This $5 note has given me so much joy. Where is it now? I have no idea. But one day ... Yippee!

Just went to the Women's Refuge annual pop-up opshop and it was heaving. Gorgeous clothes! I picked up this vintage Japanese torsade pearl necklace for $4.

Freshwater potato pearls, and blue and gold beads in a twisted top torsade style necklace, with box clasp.

I bought this 'Pohutukawa Rina' print by Evelyn Page from an opshop, thinking it was a random blue version; turns out it's just a super-faded coloured print! I didn't know ink could do that. Thanks to Chch Art Gallery for not laughing at me when I asked who made this exciting blue copy!

I am a working writer who paints for fun. Unlike writing, I don't feel forced to make my painting good. I can watch telly while I paint. There's more stuff to clean up at the end. What am I supposed to do with all these crappy paintings??
