This week, Mark Carney will address the Australian parliament; the first Canadian PM to do so in almost two decades. I wrote about the situation Canada finds itself in and what Carney may be seeking from this Australian visit.

Carney seeks solidarity at a critical time for Canada
For many Canadians, the second Trump presidency and his “51st state” remarks have been as personally offensive as the tariffs are economically damaging.

Newly elected Canadian PM Carney spoke with re-elected Australian PM Albanese. Canada's readout says they discussed 'trade, defence, and maintaining a free and open Indo-Pacific.' Albanese said in a presser overnight that Carney invited him to the G7 meeting in Alberta next month, which he accepted.

For any Canadians tuning into the Australian election, this is a wee thread if you're wondering why you've never heard of places with names like Ryan, Grayndler, Dickson, etc. Lots of seat names are for people, not geographical locations.

Steve Harris, 40, throws cage over belligerent bird in his garden after it stalked him while he was out jogging A hawk that has been terrorising male residents of a Hertfordshire village for weeks has been captured by a local man after it stalked him through the village while he was jogging. Dozens of villagers in Flamstead, near Luton, have reported being attacked from behind by the bird, identified as a Harris’s hawk. Some have been left bleeding and in at least one case requiring hospital treatment. Continue reading...
