Fyi at a certain point they just start making you a "you're old" mix and then slap a random label on it.

The whole collection as an ensemble is also good. Bottom left center one reads, "I'm pro-sexualizing the green M&M, AND I VOTE!"
A pic of the full rear of the car -- a Subaru of course. The two aforementioned ones are in the right corner, then a FUCK ICE one, and the M&M one mentioned in this post.

This car is actually from Maine but god I love New England bumper sticker culture.
Two bumper stickers, one above the other. The first says "CRASH INTO ME!!!" (This is not a Dave Matthews lyric, it's a cry for help)

The second says, "Keep honking! I'm listening to John Cage's 4:33 and you're a part of the piece now"

Wow, just when you think you e seen every bumper sticker under the sun, the world surprises you.

Considering starting to post old pics I find on my phone that deserve the light of day. This is a late 15th century painting of the Kunta Hora silver mines (Czechia), taken in the Hungarian National Museum.
A close up of part of a painting that shows a very busy scene with many small figures inside a blue-grey underneath the earth and an equally busy but more colorful above ground part of the image on top. A detail of the painting that shows a lot of small figures in a state of action. There is no perspective here...the image is very flat and the hues are tans, beiges, and browns.A photo of the entire painting, with the underground mine scene at the bottom and the above ground part occupying the top 2/3rd of the tall and narrow canvas.

I had to look up Kontextmaschine and I still don't know what that represents/is but the description feels somewhat right? I'm sorry I had to read so much Foucault in grad school and I'll never be able to escape it.
Screenshot text:

The Kontextmaschine
patron saint: kontextmaschine
It's real, it's powerful, and you find the panic about it as tedious as the hype. You're not interested in whether AI is good or bad — you're interested in who captures the value, who loses their leverage, and which institutions are using it as a story to do what they were already doing. Same as it ever was.

Rest of the message. Alt text in first two images has the entire message.
We have some difficult news to share: Clover will be closing our doors this week. Thursday, May 28th will be our final day of restaurant service and meal box delivery.

For 17 years, we have championed local farms and served tens of thousands across Greater Boston. We’re deeply saddened to share this news—for our employees, New England farmers, and you, our guests and supporters.

From the very first day on the MIT food truck in 2008, we’ve loved making food for you. The kind of food that gets under your skin, that you dream about. The kind of food that tells you where it came from. The Chickpea Fritter. The Brussels. The Japanese Sweet Potato. The Zucchini.

The kind of food you can’t get anywhere else.

If you walked into Clover today, the staff are smiling, the tables are sparkling, and the fritters smell amazing, so this news might seem like a surprise.

So what’s happened? We’ve always prized transparency along Clover’s journey. Our current situation isn’t a unique story. In the best of times, restaurants are a tough business: margins are thin, building new restaurants is expensive, and our industry is the most exposed to macroeconomic forces. For years we’ve been navigating the hangover effects of COVID and inflation at every part of our supply chain, but we are proud to have remained committed to sourcing high-quality ingredients from local farms.

Today, everyone is getting hit with rising costs—food prices are up, delivery prices are up, and a hundred other costs are moving in the same direction…even the less flashy things like cardboard and fry oil. Across the board, our ingredients cost 30-50% more today than they did just 2 years ago. Our farmers are experiencing the same pressures we are.

At Clover, we’ve raised prices some, of course, but there is a limit—every one of you is likely thinking about how you save and spend right now too.

We’re deeply saddened about the circumstances. Especially for our 170 employees—you’ll never find a more standout group of dedicated, mission-driven, awesome people who deeply care about their work.

So what now? We still have 2 days together. Share a favorite memory with us. Come in, enjoy some of your favorites, and let the staff know you’ll miss them. We’ll certainly miss all of you.

You helped make Clover beautiful and unique, and in doing so, you helped change the world for the better. We should all be very proud of that.

For those of you who didn't take an architectural history survey course as an undergrad, this is the work of the "form follows function" guy.
An image of the Guarantee Building in Buffalo, NY, shown at a 45 degree angle to the building from the opposite corner of the intersection.

The building is medium height...perhaps 12 or 13 stories, and is orange brown in color. Famously, the exterior of the building is organized into three parts vertically: a base which is the bottom two(?) floors and where windows are more horizontal than vertical in aspect, the middle section where continuous vertical "stripes" span from top to bottom with obvious floor delineations -- horizontal spans -- recessed behind and visually deemphasized, and a top cornice section with small round windows and significant vegetal-inspired ornament. (Shown up close in the next image)A close of the ornament at the top of the Guarantee Building in Buffalo NY. Read description on previous image for full context.

Browsing some fonts and just loved the content of this paragraph of sample text from OH No Type. ohnotype.co So thankful to have gotten this from architecture school!
Transcription of text in font sample:
Man, I didn't learn anything in art school. Psych! I learned a ton: how to critique, how to be critiqued. How to be a litigator for decisions. How every choice should be justified, logical, and systematic. And then I learned sometimes to throw all that out the window. That’s what happened with Ohno Casual.

Sure, it's my fault for engaging in this convo in the first place. (The first part of the movie was so hard to watch that I asked if the film got easier to watch, since I had used ChatGPT to get the film rec.)
I tell it that this is one of the worst hallucinations I've ever experienced.

It says "I completely screwed up...I am not going to guess again. Please just tell me one detail and I'll work from that."Last screenshot!

Then it says, I literally don't know. Please tell me one thing so I can make more shit up. (Okay. It doesn't admit that it still wants to make shit up but it says, "I need you to tell me one literal detail...")

I stopped after this.

Getting some new-to-me levels of bad hallucinations from GPT 5.1. This thing is like a student in a class who writes a whole essay about the book they didn't read. Except 10x more awful.
A screenshot of a dumb-ass convoy with ChatGPT about the film Réflection.

It talks knowingly about the last scene of the film and a father and son.

Here you see item 1 but it goes on for 6 items. Then (after the 6 items), I say, WTF you are just making shit up.

And it does its "you're right to call that out" bullshit. It ends by saying, "I won't try to guess again." I tell it ...there is no son in the whole movie. It does the "you're absolutely right" bit ...THEN it tells me that if I just give it one hint. It will get it right. I say, it takes place in a theater.

And it says, "thank you. That's the anchor I needed." And proceeds to ...hallucinate again.

If you are a dev + a Chrome user, have you enabled side-by-side view yet? It is SO GOOD. (chrome://flags) It is split-screen but in one browser tab so you can maximize your browser + not do the thing where for 5 seconds you have perfectly split screen windows + then have to move one and ruin it.

I also am still (after a few mins of looking) confused by the 'API Reference' page. :) That link does not lead to documentation? Maybe this is a work in progress? Is this supposed to be for an endpoint where you can programmatically access docs? or the docs themselves?

Your 'active' underline on the top navbar (Start/Products/etc) is really visually faint and far away from the label itself - it's the same weight as links in text. So, easy for someone to miss. If it could be heavier (3px+) and not coincident with the bottom of navbar I think it would read better.

So, for webkit browsers/Safari, it looks like there IS antialiasing, applied via a WP theme. (Toggling it changed nothing here). Otherwise the properties are pretty vanilla?

Yeah, you are the second person to report that. I'm in Chrome (on windows) but what is weird is that in the foundry's page for the font, it is way better, even on the same machine/browser.

Are there any typography people out there who can speculate about the thinking behind this font? This is one of those times where I'm like, "I don't get it and I'm pretty sure its me."

Look at how much more legible this is by changing just 3 CSS properties in DevTools -- give containing element for each method a different background color and a border, and turn off internal borders. And lots more could be done -- with spacing, color choice, and typography -- to improve this.

Some thoughts from the Tallinn airport: 1. Truly not ready to go back to the US. 2. Odd to me how much Tallinn reminds me of Singapore -- ungodly clean, very safe (8 yr old kids without parents everywhere), very e-convenient. Also uncomfortable weather for the most part (though still nice now).
