Walked in for a Covid booster today at the CVS near my house. Thought of that time it was an experimental vaccine, and we had to line up in our cars and get the shot through the window, and then pull up to the waiting zone and sit for 15 minutes to make sure we didn't go into anaphylactic shock.

My own essay reminds me of this time a bunch of us went to a DMB concert. One friend was going through a break-up; she was upset. We got to the parking lot and did shots before we went in (as one does) but she took off. We found her in a car with strangers getting high. It was a whole thing!

This my favourite comment re the recipe

This has been my go-to brownie recipe for 30 years, even after going to baking school! I agree that using the best cocoa possible makes a difference. These days, I use Callebaut. In the 80s, an acquaintence in Germany to whom I brought some of the brownies, and who considered herself a great cook, asked for the recipe but was never able to get it to work. She kept asking me what she was doing wrong and I was never able to solve her problem. Eventually, she moved to the US and stole my husband!

I took my daughter to see the immersive Titanic exhibit today. At the end, you can read the names of the passengers--survivors and deceased. The gift shop has magnets and stuffed bears with TITANIC stitched on their little shirts like the people screaming in the water as they died always wanted.

Ramping up work on my story collection that will come out next year. I sat down with it today and read it from cover to cover. Reading some of those older stories (2009 is the oldest one) was such an experience. I know I wrote them but also it's like a whole other person wrote them.
