📢 Paper day! 📢 We explore [OIII] outflows in DESI quasars to understand what is driving the previously found radio-dust connection, whereby more dust in quasars = more likely to be radio detected. We find this radio-dust connection is dominated by sources with high velocity outflows.

and we could see Venus during the total eclipse 😍 — look for the tiny bright dot up and left
Zoomed out view of total solar eclipse over the ocean. The sky is greyish blue and aside from the total eclipse (black center and bright corona), Venus appears as a tiny bright dot in the top left of the frame. There is land in the foreground and a crowd of onlookers with cell phones that light up like fireflies. Eclipse was one hour before sunset so there is yellow glow near horizon.

Amazing experience to see the total eclipse from the coast of Spain 🌑🥹 I was worried about the weather but we got lucky 🤩
Selfie of a couple with eclipse glasses and the sun still shining bright in their facesPhoto of total solar eclipse with the sun in a clear sky over the ocean with a bit of foreground land. The sun is black in center with bright corona.Solar eclipse just after totality with the “diamond ring” effect. The landscape is the same as in the previous photo with clear sky, ocean, and a bit of foreground land but there’s bright sun reflecting on the water this time.

We have recently clarified our penalties for this. If a submission contains incontrovertible evidence that the authors did not check the results of LLM generation, this means we can't trust anything in the paper. 3/

A lot of discoveries begin with "huh, that's weird." Astronomers noticed a weird dark patch at the center of this galaxy. Now it seems the void is caused by a record-breaking pair of ultramassive black holes that cleared out all the surrounding stars. 🧪🔭 www.sciencenews.org/article/larg...

A high-contrast image of the Butterfly Nebula (NGC 6302) against a dark, star-filled sky. The nebula features two sprawling, asymmetrical “wings” of gas and dust extending from a central bright core. The wings transition from a glowing, white, and pale blue near the center to deep, fiery streaks of red and orange at the outer edges.

It features the star-forming region NGC 604 and shows how stellar winds from bright, hot, young stars carve out cavities in surrounding gas and dust. The most noticeable features are tendrils and clumps of emission that appear bright red, extending out from areas that look like clearings, or large bubbles in the nebula.
