Random encounters CAN be annoying if balanced badly but I think the only time they're universally annoying is when you've outlevelled/returned to an area and all the enemies die in one turn but you keep getting yanked into encounters anyway.

playing Octopath and like. this game is good but it REALLY feels like it's doing nothing but fighting it's own 8-character gimmick. most of the stories feel like they're written for only each individual character to be there even though that's the opposite of the point of the game.....

I'm tapping the popularity =/= good sign again Mass general audience appeal generally tends to align with shaving off friction and nuance and streamlining things as much as possible for ~the appeal~ and the worst part is that it works the only major exception I can think of is like...maybe fromsoft?

Playing WoW is funny but so far even at level cap it really doesn't feel like the class/fight design is any more complex than FFXIV's in the way a lot of people claim it to be (outside of how awful it is to keep track of every talent affecting any given button)
