Sitting in the back of the wood-paneled car on a warm afternoon with the windows down and basking in the breeze is one particular species of heaven

Went to the Larsen poster sale by the Roxie today and got posters for Saint Laurent (signed by both Bonello and Ulliel), Misericordia, and (an original 1996 theatrical) Irma Vep and had to tap out before I found anything else

Those last three cuts—doorway, doorway, close-up. Jesus. What a simple, clean, and absolutely devastating way to cap your entire career.

Sorry to besentimental on main, I can only aspire to muster the openness to and honest generosity toward the world that Leigh's career embodies.

In March 1993, a newspaper in Novato, CA held a contest for elementary school children to submit their ideas for candy bars, then ran a whole page to celebrate them, because as a society we used to value whimsy and creativity. Anywho, take a peek through this 🧵and see what they came up with!

Gays, how do we rescue this.

Ownership & Restoration
In 1998, music producer Darryl Payne entered into an agreement with Michael Sidney Luft to acquire the rights to all 26 episodes of The Judy Garland Show. Payne continues to own and preserve these rare recordings.
Pioneer remastered the original master tapes in Dolby Digital 5.1 and widescreen format following a major digital restoration. Payne invested over $350,000 to digitize and restore the series using modern technology. As Payne stated: "You get Judy Garland. She's singing, she's dancing. You get all the biggest stars of that era." Today, the collection remains one of the last major 1960s television series not owned by a major network or film studio - a true preservation of classic entertainment history.

come to the archive where you can look at historic doodles of a guy fighting two swans

An 18th century ledger showing payments and numbers in a column. In the centre of the page is a crude illustration of two large birds(?) with their tails going up in a spiral, one with spots, the other white. A figure smoking a pipe and wearing a hat and boots is grabbing one of them by the neck. There is a mysterious box next to him which looks a lot like a Looney Tunes style TNT detonator, though obviously that would be ahistorical given the perfectly sensible composition of the rest of the doodle.
