Presented at the 3rd Namibia Media and Communication Conference where I spoke about journalists as social thinkers and what it means to rethink the role of the journalist at a moment when the industry itself is being redefined. Very cool to see local media pick up the presentation afterwards.

Anyway. I have been disillusioned by the whole FIFA system including the discourse shapers that I’ve become an accelerationist.

Kenya recruiting Europe-based players ahead of AFCON 2027 isn’t coincidence. It’s what happens when the incentives align: states want legitimacy, federations need results, and diaspora players are the quickest fix. I wrote about it: www.playthegame.org/news/behind-...

I asked someone who was involved in one of the tournaments how many teams actually signed up. Translation: OMG, so many, they had to restrict some. They booked two pitches and probably had over 30 teams. 3/10

🧵 This poster tells us a lot about the relationship between corporates and the local football industry in Kenya. Winners of this tournament win 30,000ksh (approx $230) and runners up win 20,00ksh which is approx $155. To participate in the 5x5 tournament, players have to subscribe to... 1/10

Today’s scenes at the Kenyan national team game where the stadium was filled to capacity might give an impression of a football mad country. And football clubs will expect this momentum to favour them. Highly unlikely. If we look at other countries like Gabon and

but the enemy of our enemy is not our friend. Make no mistake though, there is real resistance from Africans who genuinely have Africa’s best interests at heart. And there are also allies who seek to rightfully and justifiably set the record straight. These woes are nothing new under our sun.

You know, I was wondering where, for a continent that's always deemed poor and can't innovate, we get the money for these conflicts. And the answer is: either there is external funding, or the local authorities are doing this for free/peanuts. Turns out it's both!

Not so Open Arms now, Pep. The kid who Pep would have welcomed ashore, outmanoeuvred him at home.

It’s refreshing to see this piece resonate with audience in Kenya. It was first published by Play The Game and here it is on Nairobi Law Monthly Review. In the ongoing AFCON qualifiers Kenya has spent the equivalent of €153,307! They didn’t qualify. Most of the blame will go to the government yet

Same day Omtatah posted this, there was a barrage of misinformation about Bill Gates. All being peddled by same users who, soon as Trump won, pushed a hashtag against US Ambassador Meg Whitman who resigned yesterday.

I established a pattern of influential X users. It started with a lawmaker who insidiously posted this. While it’s true, it is standard practice for such organisations to be granted immunity. Given the status of this lawmaker, I suspect he knew what he was doing.
