I think what's ACTUALLY holding back gaming is the fact that games that aren't specifically made for PC are made around a controller design from 26 years ago. Controllers should have like at LEAST 6 more buttons on them than they do currently.

Are Combat 8 has snuck in and likely secured its spot as my GOTY. Project Aces really gets "it". The final stretch of missions are some of the best in ANY video game, let alone its contemporaries. But it's ALL gas. I haven't felt this way about finishing a game in awhile. Absolutely phenomenal.

Fortune's Weave really is an amazing achievement. If any other game had as much busy work in between its main story beats and core gameplay as this one does, I'd dismiss it outright. But all I want to do is play Fortune's Weave. I want to live in this game. It's SO good.

Even as someone who isn't a particular fan of their franchises, the Level5 stuff is _so_ depressing. That showcase might be the most uncanny video games showcase of all time.

Would have been a very blah Direct but new 2D Metroid was there so honestly it's at least a 9/10.

I can't with the heatwave anymore, it's 80+ degrees in the apartment and 90+ in the room where my computer is, the AC can't keep up and the response from the landlord is "Actually if your AC is cooling more than 20 degrees that means it's working fine." Heat makes me so irritable I'm so frustrated

My take on that Pattheflip article about his time on 2XKO is mostly - trying to create something great may absolutely require ignoring things that some might say are successful or massively appealing, but running that gamble on the careers of 160 people reeks of nothing but hubris.

Been replaying Lies of P and man, this game is so brilliant. It really captures a sweet spot that I think From actually fails to do with Souls games - that is, actually taking part in a story as opposed to just doing the cleanup after The Event happened.

Finished up Deltarune Chapter 5 (all bosses). No spoilers. I always feel like whenever I talk about this game that I'm at risk of overhyping it. But... genuinely, the way Toby Fox is able to elicit emotion is just so special that I can never help but sing praises. It's phenomenal!

Absolutely shotgunned Deltarune Chapter 5 today, all the way through the ShadowCrystal boss. Will do cleanup and finale tomorrow. ShadowCrystal boss is probably my favorite after Chapter 3's. Not as hard as 3 or 4, but certainly WAY better and more memorable than 1 or 2. Damn this game's good...

There's a lot to say about modern fandoms, almost none of it positive, but the aspect I'm most interested by is the rise of everyone claiming their ending as The Worst Ending of All Time. Minor issues with the resolution of any story are now always blown into "THIS IS THE WORST FINALE SINCE GOT".
