The adventures in non-driving. Probably should have taken a ride share but I rode the 404 bus to a photography printing demo, and am now trying to get my print home on the 404 without ruining it in the rain. Luckily it's in plastic & I have an umbrella! Commute time of about 90 minutes round trip.

With the increase in ER visits attributed to E-bikes/E-Motos, has there been any academic studies looking at how these compare to car related trama visits to the ER since cars are the second leading killer of kids in the USA?

See also: Transit is not a natural resource. Places that have it have invested in it. If it is low quality, patchy or absent in your sub/urban area, it is because it has not been invested in. I bet motor infrastructure has though. That did not happen by accident & it does not have to stay that way.

Surveillance pricing is a real. Purchasing travel tickets this week, we lined up our flights, & realized we clicked on the wrong flight at review. There was a button to go update the flight, The flight was listed at $200 more now. We closed out, started over got original price! Don't Get Scammed!

The rebuild of a short section of I-70 through east (Paseo to Van Brunt) KCMO has a $237 million budget. We are blind to the insane extend we subsidize driving (and sprawl as a result). But hey, they're adding #OneMoreLane (eastbound only), that should fix it.

My wife turned to me in the middle of watching Changing Lanes & asked if I ever considered going car free. I was a bit taken aback because I haven't driven since April, & before that I rarely drove. She said she was sick of driving & want to try, so October is going to be a car free test month!

in the vast majority of cases, adding "new technology" does nothing to make a product truly better. Most often is just makes it more expensive, easier to fail, lowers the expected useful life of the product and creates more waste. I'm sticking with my older, easily repairable analog appliances!

Yep the bike lane is the rational and reasonable place to put a traffic control sign for drivers. @mayorq.bsky.social can we take action against these contractors who fail to consider any other users except for drivers when placing signs? These are a danger & hindrance to everyone not in a car.

Since my public transit was down due to a preventable crash, we called a ride share to get to our medical appointment. Our ride was a Tesla Model 3, my first Tesla ride and I have to say, having ridden in a BYD in Spain, I like the BYD better!

The StreetCar i was riding in this morning hit a truck illegally and poorly parked in the opposing turn lane. Going to be an expensive lesson why turn lanes aren't parking lanes.

I really believe road construction companies with city contracts should not be allowed to bid on new contracts if they are caught blocking crosswalks, sidewalks or bike lanes with signs without permits. The comfort of drivers isn't a reason to block access to vital infrastructure for others!

As a guy who supports medical research using LLMs searching for commonalities within large patient data sets, they have great benefits parsing large document sets as their name implies where it would take humans decades etc. Large Language Models aren't very good at anything else in my experience.

The key thing here is *certain* trips. You don't have to suddenly go car-free! But even replacing a handful of weekly car trips with a bike can lead to savings. Car dependency is a systemic problem, but at the same time, many people are in a position to make changes like this.

I wish when reporting about these types of incentives and bonds, journalist would calculate out the entire cost of the bonds, including interest rather than just the face value. The $600 million will be closer to $1.5 billion when all interests is paid. That is a real cost we bear!

Just left the eye Dr & a month after my last eye surgery things are starting to look good. Retina is still attached & healing, no spider web of fast growing scar tissue causing a Macular Pucker, vision has returned enough to see the world, even if it's like looking through broken frosted glass. 🤞

I-70 between downtown Kansas City and the I-435 loop will close for 11 months this November. The news has already started the fear mongering but I fully expect it to be a non-issue as drivers adjust to new routes or change trip behaviours or simply not taking trips they used to.

I know I am partially blind but even to me this is pretty noticeable and easy to read. Why can't drivers see them? Why do drivers continue to try to drive down it the wrong way with oncoming traffic in a lane only wide enough for one car?

What if we treated every crash fatality like an emergency? What if cities automatically reduced speeds and deployed traffic calming on roads for two weeks after fatal crashes to signal to drivers that someone died here? Give fatalities the attention they deserve.

Riding my bicycle to a meeting today down a street with only one lane open, the one I was riding in. Pull up to stop sign, with a large barricade in the opposite lane with clear "Road Closed" sign. You will never guess what happened next or how many times it happened! Go head try!
