Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 27/06/2026Any bloomfs that are good at identifying birds? Merlin Bird ID says it's a northern lapwing, which I guess makes sense being on the coast here in Liverpool, but they are quite rare/endangered in the UK, no? 000
Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 04/06/2026We should be looking to what currently is working within NHS trusts, like Manchester, and then adapting, expanding and implementing that nationwide. Because the current method of individual trusts all having their own data systems and contracts is frankly absurd. (4/4) 010
Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 04/06/2026If you look at the comparison of the pilot results (blue) to the other London NHS trusts not using the Palantir-FDP (yellow),4 there is no significant difference, implying this improvement would have happened regardless. Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 04/06/2026Based on the statements and "results" announced about the 2022 NHS pilot of the Palantir Federated Data Platform at Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust sounded very impressive, boasting a 28% reduction in elective surgery times. Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 26/05/2026has anyone ever asked why the TEF scores exist when they seem, quite honestly very counter-intuitive? Like I do not believe for a second that Sheffield Hallam is scoring higher than the University of Sheffield, especially on student outcomes of all things? 100

Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 03/03/2026The YouGov poll from today has the greens about 5% ahead of their 7 day average (which includes said poll). But it should be noted that since around the summer 2025, YouGov has had Reform at the lowest and the lib dems at the highest of the average polling trends over that time period. 000

Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 20/02/2026From the Poll it is not really statistically valid to say Labour is in a distant 3rd? The Top 3 Parties are all within Margins of Error(MoE) of each-other and it is still a 3-way tossup! Not to mention, of the initial 452, re-weighted to 444, 120 were undecided and 58 refused, Leaving 265 responses. 182

Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 17/11/2025I wouldn't normally ever look at polling subsamples, but even with the clear instability of such a small sample size, Labour had a clear lead of basically 50% with 18-24 years olds for the entirety of the last parliament. Compare that to this year: never over 50% and since Oct a widening green lead 020
Very Grumpy Statistician @statistic.bsky.social · 17/11/2025It's wild and unfathomable to Labour that as soon as a party (the Greens) starts talking about hope and a brighter future and pulling people up instead of attacking and demonising a different minority group each week that they surge in the polls! 130
