After the last few games with Dieng starting for #MNUFC, I think it's clear he is the way forward at striker. He is much more dynamic than Yeboah, shown some good skills, and his hold up play has improved dramatically since the start of the season (even if it's not quite there yet).

#MNUFC should always play Caldeira with Pereyra. They've got some synergy (although it's probably game state related). I'd at least bring Caldeira on before Gonzalez when we need a goal.

Love seeing a guy call for the ball like that because he sees how to undo the defense (not just shoot).

Caldeira looks like he has what it takes to be a contributer (probably a starter down the road in MLS). He has the killer instinct to get himself or the ball towards the goal after a final third turnover. Not clean enough on the ball, but I'd like to see more of him with the first team this season.

This is a better lineup for #MNUFC. Curious about Diaz at LCB. Will Pereyra play as a true 10? I was never super impressed by the Tani-Yeboah lineups, but maybe Dieng can be dynamic enough to create some space for Yeboah.

Not sure how 2 strikers works with a back 5, unless you drop Chancalay. I don't think #MNUFC can successfully play a back 4 without a real 6. Maybe we'll see Gonzalez make some runs into the left channel with Markanich underlaping. Gain some width and keep Yeboah central.

Doyle's right about James, would have been fun to bring him back. I spent the whole group stage over indexing and wishcasting who #MNUFC should sign too. I'm on the Elijah Just train (maybe Boxall can put in a good word) and like the look of Oscar Bobb (can beat someone off the dribble).

Great stuff here, and Jeff nails my thoughts at the end. France weren't at their best, but Spain didn't give them an opportunity to find their footing.

Spain are designed to make opponents suffer if they aren’t at their best. It’s a model that can work against any team in international football. Even – and, given three semi-finals’ worth of evidence, especially – mighty France.

Back in high school, I played in a tournament where the PK rule was once the ref blows the whistle the goalie could leave their line. Really changed the feel and strategy. It's a variation on PK rules I really like (besides the OG MLS shootout).

My favorite example of this was Fringe. They aired the pilot as the second episode, and in a later episode Olivia's partner dies but back in the next episode. Then he's never seen again!

Yeah, I assume it's not health related. I'm curious if there was a locker room blow up, and Knowles is trying to avoid a #MNUFC in disarray narrative. Or El-Ahmad told Yeboah there trying to sell him or bring in a new striker (I'm not sure KEA is a great man-manager).

No changes to vibes or operations from my point of view. But I left a couple years after the transition. We were given plenty of stats about the benefits of becoming an ESOP, but never saw it come to fruition.

I worked somewhere while it became an ESOP. Struck me as a way to pay out the retiring owners and allow the company (not really the employees) to own itself. More of an additional retirement benefit to the employees than anything else.

One last thing, #MNUFC get the ball to the end line (in the Pep Cut Back Zone™ that is important to creating "Great" shots) on the right. Yet don't generate any cut backs. These are the Pereyra and Diaz overloads. Pereyra is unwilling to play a ball in with his right and can't get the cut back off.

I think Mark is right about speed of build up, especially in transition. But when #MNUFC face a set defence it's pretty stagnant. We need more dynamic movement in and around the box. I want better passing from Pereyra and Chancalay in those situations, but need better options too.

A lot of #MNUFC 's possession ended in long shots and cleared crosses. The Loons do try to get some combinations through Yeboah in the center, but I don't think I've seen any come off this season.
