The horrors persist, and I've been consumed by the concept of sourdough bread. Also, burnt dinner a little. You could say I'm keeping it spicy.

Looking up 💕🌸✨ #WhimsyWednesday
Looking up a tree trunk, covered in patches of green moss and lichen. There are rows pink and purple petals of violet-toothed polypore fungus up the trunk, as well. The bare branches fade out of focus against the gray sky above

A cosmic portal, a circle of light, calls from the void. Fiery hues blend into the infinite, while stars drift like forgotten dreams. In its heart, darkness whispers of untold secrets, inviting you to explore what lies beyond the reach of the known universe. P.S. Space art
This artwork depicts a stunning cosmic scene resembling a nebula in space, characterized by a vibrant circular structure. The outer rim features a gradient of colors transitioning from fiery orange to deep blue, creating a dramatic halo effect. The center of the image presents a dense black area, symbolizing the vast emptiness of space. Surrounding the primary structure are countless sparkling stars scattered against a dark backdrop, enhancing the celestial ambiance. The overall composition evokes a sense of wonder and beauty, inviting viewers to contemplate the mysteries of the universe and the intricate phenomena that define it.

High resolution image of a heavy star. 🔭 🧪
The luminous, hot star Wolf-Rayet 124 (WR 124) is prominent at the centre of the James Webb Space Telescope’s composite image combining near-infrared and mid-infrared wavelengths of light. The star displays the characteristic diffraction spikes of Webb’s Near-infrared Camera (NIRCam), caused by the physical structure of the telescope itself. NIRCam effectively balances the brightness of the star with the fainter gas and dust surrounding it, while Webb’s Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) reveals the nebula’s structure.

Background stars and galaxies populate the field of view and peek through the nebula of gas and dust that has been ejected from the ageing massive star. A history of the star’s past episodes of mass loss can be read in the nebula’s structure. Rather than smooth shells, the nebula is formed from random, asymmetric ejections. Bright clumps of gas and dust appear like tadpoles swimming toward the star, their tails streaming out behind them, blown back by the stellar wind.

Quasars give off huge amounts of energy.(imaginary pic)
Quasars give off huge amounts of energy. They can be a trillion times brighter than the Sun! Astronomers think that quasars are located in galaxies which have black holes at their centers. The black holes may provide quasars with their energy. Quasars are so bright that they drown out the light from all other stars in the same galaxy. The word quasar is short for quasi-stellar radio source. Quasars give off radio waves, X-rays, gamma-rays, ultraviolet rays, and visible light. Most of them are larger than our solar system.

The Red Spider Nebula: surfing in Sagittarius - not for the faint-hearted! Credit:ESA
Huge waves are sculpted in this two-lobed nebula some 3000 light-years away in the constellation of Sagittarius. This warm planetary nebula harbours one of the hottest stars known and its powerful stellar winds generate waves 100 billion kilometres high. The waves are caused by supersonic shocks, formed when the local gas is compressed and heated in front of the rapidly expanding lobes. The atoms caught in the shock emit the spectacular radiation seen in this image.

Core of the Crab Nebula|NASA|
The core of the Crab Nebula is a pulsar, which is a small, rapidly spinning neutron star at the center of a massive dead star:

The pulsar is the dense core of a star that died in a supernova explosion. It's about the same mass as the sun, but compressed into a sphere that's only a few miles across.

The pulsar spins 30 times per second, emitting pulses of radiation ranging from gamma rays to radio waves. This makes the Crab Nebula easy to detect with a telescope.
The pulsar's magnetic field and energetic particles create a "pulsar wind nebula". This nebula includes:
Bright wisps: These wisps move outward from the pulsar at half the speed of light, forming an expanding ring.
Glowing gas: This gas forms a swirling pattern of cavities and filaments.
Ghostly blue glow: This glow is radiation given off by electrons spiraling in the pulsar's magnetic field.
The Crab Nebula is located in the Milky Way, in the constellation Taurus, and is 6,500 light-years from Earth. It's also known as Messier 1 (M1).

“Mystic Mountain,” this is a region of the much more extensive Carina Nebula. Credit: NASA, ESA,Hubble
Stars form in large clouds of gas and dust called nebulae that scatter the visible wavelengths of light our eyes can see. The longer wavelengths of infrared light can pass through the cloud relatively undisturbed. Hubble’s near-infrared capabilities and high resolving power make it an important tool in the study of how stars form.

Dubbed “Mystic Mountain,” this is a region of the much more extensive Carina Nebula. In it, towers of cool hydrogen gas laced with dust are seen to rise along the nebula’s wall. At the top, a three-light-year-tall pillar of gas and dust is being eaten away by the brilliant light and winds from nearby stars. The pillar is also being pushed apart from within, as infant stars buried inside it fire off jets of gas that can be seen streaming left and right from the tips of the peaks.
