It’s been a while since I was here for an episode, but with a potential Episode X and new trilogy on the horizon, I couldn’t have picked a better time to return to @fortherepublicpod.bsky.social It’s good to be back! 😊💙 #StarWars

We finished our watch of Normal People tonight and 2 things are true: it was an incredible series that immediately has become of my favorite shows of all time, and if I ever even attempt to watch it again it would be an extreme danger to my mental health

The rare film where I’m more interested in how people will discuss this years from now as opposed to the present-day. If you told me this was your best or worst of the year, I wouldn’t be shocked either way. I’m not even fully sure how I feel yet. Tom Cruise is sensational though

I skipped high school to buy tickets for The Phantom Menace. The following day my Dad asked ," how was school?" I replied, " It was fine " He then threw this newspaper at me and asked , " how the fuck would you know?" He was so pleased with himself that I didn't actually get in trouble.

Disastrous decisions right off the bat. Fuck Skydance. Warner Bros. is cooking these days under these two, who genuinely like movies and love making them. This is a great indicator that this merger is going to ruin EVERYTHING.

For as horrible of a situation they were put in, they still went out and delivered about as good of a movie as you could’ve made & the emotional beats are so god damn good. Just don’t understand how people try to say it’s “forgettable”. Haven’t seen it since the theater but really need to fix that.

To share my professional insight a little bit. Jon Watts passed on an MCU return, a Jim Henson biopic, an original horror film, and "other Disney projects" in favor of Star Wars. I respect the dedication. Also a step up from James Mangold and Taika Waititi who are doing everything BUT Star Wars.

Skeleton Crew (a show Jon Watts showran, created, and directed 2 episodes of) has everything people claim they want in Star Wars. A simple story almost completely separated from the wider Saga that focuses entirely on new characters. But y'all didn't watch it so you think Watts can't do a SW movie.

Oh I fucking love this. Adored Skeleton Crew & the heart & character Watts brings to his films. And I refuse to listen to any attempts at revisionist history film twitter/tiktok try to pull, his Spidey films are all top notch. Great choice to direct.

Skeleton Crew was an absolute blast and I think did a great job at doing what the core Star Wars films should do: Balance emotional storytelling with humour & with a family audience in mind.

Forever furious we didn’t get this in theaters. I took my time getting to this. Avatar means very much to me.Thankfully I really enjoyed it. The story doesn’t reach the heights of the OG series, but the animation is breathtaking & it was so good seeing these characters again
