Yo, I am not liking how the r word came rearing back with a vengeance. We had cleared that word out of polite society! im not saying White queers only care about themselves, but MANY have a deeply ingrained, socialized habit of treating their own experience as the default. if they dont experience the hierarchy, the hierarchy becomes division or infighting if they do experience harm, THEN it becomes structural.

White queer politics can end up with a weird contradiction: deeply fluent in the language of structural oppression when describing what happens to White queers, but suddenly hyper-individualist when another queer subgroup describes what White queers may reproduce… especially with White transfolk.

White queers can be marginalized enough to know what exclusion feels like while still being racialized into expecting their own perspective to be universal. that combination can turn “my experience matters” into “my experience tells me what is happening here.” and those are very different claims.
