Overheard a conversation about Roland the Farter—so of course I joined in. Refreshing to meet such enlightened people! There is hope.

Watched The Blue Bird (Cukor, 1976)... Elizabeth Taylor, Ava Gardner, Jane Fonda, George Cole, Patsy Kensit, Robert Morley, and Cicely Tyson (who you may know from the cover of Miles's Sorcerer album)! A magical tale for all the family. Jane Fonda wins that film.

At Fruitlands, vegetables that grow downwards (carrots, beets, potatoes) are forbidden. And for that reason, I'm out.

In this enchanted mood, thy spirit ebbs away to whence it came; becomes diffused through time and space; like Cranmer’s sprinkled Pantheistic ashes, forming at last a part of every shore the round globe over.

Welcome boats. Boats were probably a significant factor in the origin of consciousness. Boats bring earthlings together— unlike borders, walls, flags, and so-called newspapers. I have been in a fair few boats. Imho, the boat was really a first-rate invention—so keep the boats coming, I say.

Conversation with @kirkdalebooks.bsky.social led (via Dr Who and Survivors) to this incredible series. Somehow I intuited even as a child visiting the BM that an Ancient Egyptian model of someone ploughing was one of the most important exhibits of all.

Some of you may know that this is my favourite advert of all time. I was just reminded of it as I noticed my Fortnum & Mason tea tastes inexplicably of peanuts, and said, "Eh, smashing new peanut taste!" Can anyone identify the other actors? "Mm, smooooth" and "Peanuts!"

Last night I (re-)watched The Haunting (1963). What a perfectly spooky film! Hats off to Humphrey Searle for a spine-tingling soundtrack. Tonight I plan to subject myself to the 90s remake.
