The oil apocalypse is here
The three separate oil shocks upending the world Thank you to Odoo for sponsoring this video!

Looks like the AI squeeze is about to get serious. Google is moving most of it's currently free Gemini models behind a paywall. OpenAI introduced a USD 500/month plan. Is this when the bubble bursts?

Now I have a script that uses SSH to merge the storage folders of my Kirby install from my server and my Mac and then uploads the latest version of my website's code. Only delta-updates in both directions. This saves me about 15-45 Minutes per update.

Yesterday, I directed the free Google Gemini chatbot to write a shell script for me. I paid nothing, I understand what it does, and it works. I did had to ask it if some things where a good idea a few times, but it fixed those.

I don't understand why people install it at all. Apple's Preview can actually do more things and runs smoother.

I suspect the A/B-Test for videos was originally conceived to help advertisers test different versions of an ad-video. Making it a general feature on YouTube could just be a symptom of Youtube forgetting it is more than a marketing platform.

It's the perfect storm. AI website generators, Wordpress in shambles, the economy in a multi-year slump, closed platforms rising, and probably more factors. But right now, webdesign feels like a dying industry.

I've got to admit, my way of dealing with enshittification is to learn not to care. If I cared as much today about some products and brands as I did a decade ago, I'd be very unhappy. Loyalty to a brand or an employer is short-sighted. Loyalty should always be towards values and people.

Wenzel 💚 @stairjoke.ninja · 29/09/2026
It's probably with it, but that price is just out of budget.

I like the ALT-text reminder option. It could ask to add one or give an option to auto-generate and check the results. If the user doesn't change it, maybe add a "text generated using AI" string?
010
Wenzel 💚 @stairjoke.ninja · 28/09/2026
That's nice, you could auto generate them per default and ask users to replace them before posting.

My hammer went rogue and started smashing people's heads in! There was nothing I could do. I tried to stop it, but my arm kept swinging it at people. It isn't my fault! It is the hammer's. This is very dangerous. Someone should regulate hammers. (This is a post about AI safety and liability.)

happy harvest moon, squad
it is a view out over rolling hills at dusk with a blue and purple sky, a full moon shining golden, and a small smattering of cloudsit is a closeup of a rock face in the golden light of the sunset, and in the background the landscape disappears off towards a distance hazy horizon. the full moon floats off in the sky, surrounded by sparse but fluffy pink clouds it is a landscape showing a rough rocky escarpment picked out in golden light. behind it, reddish heathers cover the hillside off into the distance where a farther escarpment pokes up into the sky. in the far background, fields, rolling hills, a blue sky, a few clouds drifting about level with the highest point of the rocks a bright sunset flares behind the silhouette of a cairn

I used to use a #Mac because of the software, despite the hardware. Now I use one because of the hardware, despite the software. OK, I want a UNIX or Linux system and Windows is NOT AN OPTION, so my choices are limited, but if @valvesoftware.com shipped an ARM laptop with #steamOS… I'd be tempted.

- Cmd+X some text and press cmd+Z to undo. it will only restore part of what was cut And those all happened to me within the first few days of using it. Is Apple trying to keep the Mac small to avoid the gatekeeper label in the EU, or what is happening here?!

- Text to Speech mumbles and pronounces words wrong while changing the speed at which it speaks - Using the keyboyrd shortcut to open the help menu opens an un-closable menu in system settings (you need to reboot to close it)

OK, macOS 27 looks much better than 26, but hell is it buggy! It's like #Apple used #AI for everything with no human intelligence involved at all!?! - Exposé is a mess - Music gets louder when playing an audio iMessage

Ok, I was just wondering: Why would you use a CMS to build a website if you're building one for yourself as an indie dev/designer using AI? This is purely hypothetical, my stuff is hand-crafted and runs on Kirby, but I am curious.

I suspect it's an MCP thing to enable access for AI? But that doesn't feel right. Why would that need to be local when AIs can just talk to the Figma servers instead?

Does anybody know why @figma.com runs in the background after quitting it by hitting cmd+q? I've not needed it much recently, and it feels a bit creepy not knowing what it does while I don't use it. #Figma #infosec

I didn't know #Dailymotion was still around, but it just popped up in a search result. Curiosity made me click the link, and damn is that website terrible! It feels like a first-semester college project done by someone who has their first try at vibe coding but absolutely no motivation.

AI doesn't make better things, it makes more of the same. Humans make better things, sometimes with AI. Creators leaving means better things will no longer be made.

Competing on quality over quantity was hard before AI and many chose not to then. I would like to say nothing has changed, but the overwhelming quantity is making quality even harder to sell.
