Created a character whose “superpowers” mimic hypermobility in many ways for my scifi novel… and in writing it, I am coming to realize I may be hypermobile. We all learn from representation in media… sometimes more than we planned. #speculativefiction #scifi #booksky #hypermobility

Hi booksky! I’d love to connect with other readers and writers interested in non-spicy speculative fiction. Romance is fine and all, but I am a WOMAN of ACTION. #booksky #speculativefiction #scifi #fiction #bookworm

Do I do my own character art specifically so I can gaze sadly at them AND make memes about my writing process? Yes, and yes. #writing #characterart #characterdesign #specfic #scifi

Damn, this made me chuckle.😆

barbwritesstuff: I have learnt today that my library refers to me as "the specific and highly active user" and has denied some of my purchase requests because "we can't skew the collection too much toward the taste of the specific and highly active use."

I did suggest roughly 100 vampire books for purchase last year. I think this probably has something to do with that.

Dragon-in-a-fez: op is there any particular reason the librarians would feel safer not invoking you by name?

I left writing for ten years to be a pro artist, and it made me a better writer. I now understand deadlines, revision, creative clarity, accepting feedback, and the importance of creating intentionally vs emotionally much more. All life experience helps writing! Even not writing! #writing

Me revisiting the laws of thermodynamics to check if my new story theories have any kind of scientific grain of truth, because I LIKE SCIFI over fantasy because of that realism aspect that tends to be present. #speculativefiction #scifi #writing

Husband likes rocks. I like rocks. We both like space. How did we think we’d watch Project Hail Mary without sobbing?

See, my headcanon is that Orville Peck and Lord Huron crawled out of the same portal in an abandoned ranch one night.

What is a found family duo without a little shared arson? — First illustration I’ve completed for CALLSIGN ANVIL, my spec-fic novel inspired by biological extremes, Americana folk heroes, chronic illness, and the prices we pay for connection and power. #scifi #ocart #characterart #illustration

As a big fan of mechs, spec fiction, and dinosaurs, I am *distraught* that nobody told me about Zoids until now.
