Even if Amy and Vivek felt the same about the rights of trans Ohioans (they don’t), I’m curious why other policy differences wouldn’t matter. Why their positions on education, Medicaid expansion, free speech (drag show ban!), public benefits, voting rights, and immigration are outside the purview.

This is beyond the pale—someone advocating for the Republican gubernatorial candidate to win based on their wildly speculative predictions about the alternative. It is a slap in the face to Ohioans suffering under GOP rule in practice. This rationale is fiction with the potential to cause real harm.

Think it’s important to remind people too that the death toll rises every single day and that includes civilians. Like it needs to be clear that Russia is still murdering Ukrainian civilians every. single. day. The atrocities have never stopped, even if the news coverage did.

Given the history of similar audits, and the fact that DHS’s systems are riddled with errors, we should expect that these numbers are very likely false and have not been properly verified yet. Multiple previous state audits produced splashy numbers that evaporated on further investigation.

The draft press release states that "reviews of the four states' records" found 190,832 noncitizens registered in California; 35,152 in New Jersey;
15,903 in Nevada; and 14,576 in Pennsylvania. It does not indicate that DHS found evidence that non-citizens cast ballots or explain how it reached a number that appears to be higher than previous reviews have found.

My one caveat is that it is driven by external forces tho, in a sense—the more we rely on the algo to tell us what to think instead of relying on our own critical thinking skills/other means of assessing information, the more manipulatable we become. Attention and trust are profitable commodities!
