Been busy with the paints and crayons. This one made me cry a bit. If you remember my dog, Timber, you'll know... 'The Wood Holds What Was'
Mixed-media painting of Little Red Riding Hood and a large wolf sitting side by side on a log in a misty, enchanted forest. They are seen from behind, small within the landscape, surrounded by dark twisting trees, oversized patterned leaves, mushrooms, seed heads and glowing botanical forms in greens, blues and muted reds. The forest opens into a pale clearing behind them

The Cat Distribution System has spoken. It has been mutually and cordially agreed that the neighbours' cat is now officially our cat. She's a wriggly, bitey ball of chaos, which is probably why on her first night sleeping on the bed, I dreamt that she was in fact an albino cobra called Julio.
A very, very relaxed black and white cat lying on her back asleep, tummy exposed, legs akimbo.

Exactly. I wonder how many stupid Brits are going to be in A&E later. The amount of lobsters we saw yesterday, I just wanted to go and slap some factor 50 on the lot of them. Meanwhile, I thought you might appreciate the bunnies' set up. Have had to run cables up the garden to plug in their fans.

I feel like my life has always been burdened, delayed, and derailed. I have to stop whingeing and waiting for it to begin when everything has finally stopped being such a fucking faff because I'll be dead by the time that happens. Anyway, here's pics of m'garden, cos that's not a total disaster

So, on account of her stroke, my 87 year-old mother's having some speech therapy. The speech therapist, a very proper lady, comes in this morning. 'Why not read some pages out loud from your book?'. So she did...

Comforting to know that the Manner of Death Predictor forsees S-i-L and B-i-L being taken off to a watery grave (together, I assume). B-i-L via means of a mythical sea creature of norse legend, quite fitting, really. S-i-L (I imagine) fighting said creature valiantly to the end to save her love.

Found more than we bargained for on today's woodland walk.
A picture of a mossy woodland floor with upright pine trees. Sitting among the tree trunks is what looks like a mountain gorilla covered in soft mossy green fur, a simulacrum made by the roots of a fallen tree that has been lying on the forest floor for many months. It really, really looks like a gorilla.

In an uncharacteristic turn of events, I'm sorting out Christmas stock early (for me - apparently 'the normals' do this sort of thing months in advance). Behold, my shiny trinkets. Long, tedious hours at the saw and diamond polisher await as I get these ready to be made into necklaces.
A selection of around 30 square and rectangular glass cabochons of varying sizes (between 5 and 10/15 cm). They are made with various fusible types of glass, each including an element of dichroic glass, which has a special textured coating giving it a reflective 'foiled' appearance, with multi-faceted colours ranging from pinks and lilacs, to blues and silvers. The colours of the cabochons are mainly icy blues, but there are some that are pink and purple, as well as emerald green. The cabochons have different patterns according to the type of dichroic glass that has been used - some patterns look like fish scales and some look like flowers, bubbles, other patterns look like crinkled paper or foil.

I love my shady garden. I'm planting it up in the top half of our space. I'm planning to build a little waterfall and pond there eventually. It's where our office is and also where the bunnies live, and my little arbour, where I can sit to watch them.
A gothic style arbour painted black with green and white leaf print cushions on the seat. It has a gothic style mirror hanging on the back above the seat. There are two clay urns hanging on either side of the arbour with small ferns planted in them. On the ground, on either side of the arbour are hostas in pots.

To think it once looked like this:
Image shows two photos of the same garden, one on top of the other. Top photo dated July 2013 shows a digger sitting at the top of a long stretch of garden, which has no plants, only bare earth and the beginnings of a wall being built in the foreground with a cement mixer to the right.
Bottom photo dated May 2014 shows new stone wall with flower beds in the foreground with steps leading into the garden with a pergola to the right and a greenhouse further along. There is some patchy grass but very few plants.

Gearing up for tomorrow's Christmas Dinner, which will be prepared for my pernickety mother courtesy of two tiny air fryers and a plug-in hob. Good job I am a creative GENIUS in the kitchen and resourceful is my middle name.* *It'll be an unmitigated disaster. Might have to get her pissed.
Heath Robinson Does Away with Servants - Patent Applied for by "The Sketch" in the Kitchen. A busy Kitchen, which is a typically Heath Robinson design, with a system of pulleys, levers and machinery allowing just one man to peel and mash potatoes, whisk eggs, roast a chicken, wash the plates, roll pastry, and toast bread, all at once, sitting down. and still be able to smoke a cigar, and no need for servants. Even the pendulum of the clock serves as a handy turnip peeler. Description courtesy of: https://www.prints-online.com/heath-robinson-kitchen-3-4-4453211.html
