I enjoyed Homecoming and Far From Home, but I didnt't like how it took three movies to accomplish what Spider Man 1 did in its first third.

Alec Karde (SQG Review Show) @sqgreviewshow.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

--Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man is more mature and that naturally comes with more responsibility. Also, I LOVED his friendship with The Punisher. That dynamic really added that special sauce to the film. He doesn't even feel out of place in this movie either.

Finally saw Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It was pretty good. Much better than No Way Home, and the antagonist was really, really good. Also really enjoyed seeing Peter navigate a world that forgot about his civilian identity completely and commit to Spider-Man 100%. Probably the best of the MCU...

A case where an intended satire accidentally becomes the very thing it's parodying.

Vice. Why did they make a Dick Cheney biopic? It's way beneath Christian Bale's talent.

You know, I kind of miss when Nintendo tried to port more retro consoles besides their mainline and the Sega Genesis. It was so cool to have TurboGrafx 16 games on there like Bonk's Adventure. And now they don't even bother with that. Kind of disappointing.

And doing that for say 50 weeks a year? Goddamn. You won't have time to play games just for fun.

Alec Karde (SQG Review Show) @sqgreviewshow.bsky.social · 30/09/2026

Gotta say, being a game journalist has to be so damn soul crushing. Like, imagine having to write a review on a 100 hour game that is as dull as watching paint dry. You STILL gotta commit and write it, probably within a week since the review embargo is usually shortly before release.

Watching Gilmore Girls Season 4, Episode 15, and Dean is playing a Mega Man X arcade cabinet of some sort. Does anyone know what this is? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't recall X ever having an arcade release. Interesting detail. Like Dr. House playing Level 4 of Metroid Zero Mission.

Alec Karde (SQG Review Show) @sqgreviewshow.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

King of Hearts (1966). We watched it in Creative Writing class at the end of the year, and it felt like a movie tailor made for me. Loved the ending.

Alec Karde (SQG Review Show) @sqgreviewshow.bsky.social · 26/09/2026

Him and Red Guy as well as having recently played Bananza have really piqued my interest in giving it a proper revisit. Glad I did. Been a while since I was so hooked on a game where I would be pulling five to seven hour game sessions depending on if I have work that day.

Of the seven main levels, Creepy Castle is my favorite world, followed by Gloomy Galleon, then Fungi Forest, then Frantic Factory, then Angry Aztec, then Jungle Japes, and the very bottom would be Crystal Caves. I'm exclusing DK Isle and Hideout Helm since progression is way different.

Alec Karde (SQG Review Show) @sqgreviewshow.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

And that's a wrap for DK64. Honestly? It holds up very well. I had a lot of fun doing a revisit. It also cements Donkey Kong as my favorite platformer series since the weakest game is now King of Swing. I'm sorry I ever doubted DK64. It didn't kill a genre. It just took it to its limit.

--my favorite world so far. I didn't even mind the water level buttons because of the perfectly placed banana ports. Plus, this world is just one big DKC2 homage in a way Jungle Japes was a DKC1 homage. Onto Fungi Forest!

Alec Karde (SQG Review Show) @sqgreviewshow.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Just completed Gloomy Galleon and surprised myself. I remember this being my least favorite of the worlds, but I no longer agree with that old assessment. I used to be annoyed with the water level buttons, but with great swim controls, no breath meter, and great exploration...might actually be....

and the whole [SPOILER] conspiracy within this small town has me at the edge of my seat. I especially admire the restraint of this show to not show its hand too early. I thought the time jump would be the point of decline, but nah. It has a lot of steam and I eagerly await Episode 7.

Gotta say, Lanterns had EVERY reason to be awful yet despite grounding the setting to a small town on Earth and showing a version of Hal Jordan who has lost his sense of heroism and is more like Han Solo, it should be terrible. But goddamn, so far it's PEAK DCU. I am loving John Stewart's journey

"Getting 201 Golden Bananas is tedious." You're more than welcome to do the minimum. Completionism should be a personal choice. Like 'did I have fun?' and if yes, go for 100%. If 'I liked it, but had my fill', then that's fine too. I completed it several times. The Beaver hole minigames....

"It's too big?" The worlds are massive, but proportionate to the five characters and the banana ports make traversal genius. "But the Kong Barrels are annoying?" Never had that problem, personally. Swapping on the fly would likely break the game for areas not meant to have certain Kongs.

Been replaying Donkey Kong 64 for first time in a long time. Haven't done a real playthrough of it since i was 13. Last time I kind of played it was for stock footage in a time collectathons just weren't my forte anymore. Now, I'm back into them and it's honestly been a lot of fun.

STAR FOX (2026) EXPERT MODE STREAM MOVED TO 6PM ET. My apologies to those who were hoping to watch it at 8pm. There's a thunderstorm on the way around 8pm and I didn't want to cancel it. So I moved it up two hours early. Still on New Day Charity's youtube channel.

--keep in mind, they were written in the early 90's and one thing Timothy Zahn got kind of right was how Admiral Thrawn would use them for his army and clones were found in Stormtrooper armor. Something the early Empire had before transitioning to recruits.

Alec Karde (SQG Review Show) @sqgreviewshow.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

As someone who has read the Thrawn Trilogy, the books would probably confuse people about the Clone Wars. They asserted that clones would go insane and were led by Clonemasters and made in Spaarti containers, and they were implied to have fought against the Republic for 70+ years.

RENDERED! The culprit was that GPU acceleration was on. I had to disable it (I thought I did). Eighth render was the charm.

Alec Karde (SQG Review Show) @sqgreviewshow.bsky.social · 29/08/2026

So I rendered the whole video in sections, but a new project file with just the four sections on the timeline and I STILL get the corrupt file rendered video. So, looks like passed the 40 minute mark is where it refuses to render.
