I'm worried about the NY grocer thing for a reason I don't think I've seen anyone talk about. How do you prevent supplier anti-competitive backdoor scheming (such as Wal + Pep), price fixing, collusion from poisoning the efforts, and then use those poisoned results to "prove" it doesn't work?

Are there any examples of "I'm going to destroy the cosmos because suffering is cruel and emptiness is mercy" type villains, and the protag(s) tries to convince them there's beauty/etc to be had even if suffering exists and the villain says "yeah but I already did bad shit and I won't apologize?"
