Do your best to behave as if you truly don't know. One thing that helps is to actually believe it yourself. Think about how much you probably would like to know what they're thinking. Did they say it because they assumed you wanted them to? Do they actually think what they're said is true? Etc.

Scream 5 and 6 actually revitalized the franchise and were pretty widely liked. The Scream franchise is not like, say, Friday the 13th. It never became a joke. Her being fired has significantly hurt her career.
