Bob Aman @sporkmonger.com · 14/09/2026Mmmmm I’m not so sure the mainstream public will care to differentiate open weights when there’s a more accessible category of “any and all AI” sitting right there to blame. Enough people already hate AI without any disasters that it wouldn’t take much to recruit more widespread anger. 100
Bob Aman @sporkmonger.com · 10/09/2026It does help that API keys and secrets benefit from being regex-discoverable for auto-invalidation by GitHub among others and many providers make their keys trivially identifiable for secret detection as a result. 010
Bob Aman @sporkmonger.com · 10/09/2026I’m keen to see how these “self-improved” models do on tasks that don’t lend themselves to concrete evals, like for instance, writing clarity. I have a funny feeling that self-improvement will end up having side-effects. 010

There’s a decent number of different tools in the governmental toolbox that I could imagine being deployed when we get there, with varying degrees of efficacy. 010

There were textbook sharing groups that would give you hand-me-down textbooks. Everything else could be done cheaply. 211
