"Behind the Scenes/WIP Booklet"

"Thank you for taking a peek into our zine’s development!
This was an optional participation segment so you might not find everyone inside, but that does not represent how much creative work went in, whether they chose to share it or not!
We hope you have a fun time reading these notes from our *fascinating* contributors who decided to share!"

Page includes the Title text and formatting for the zine WIP booklet in white, pale green, and denim blue over a blurred composite of multiple process images found within the booklet including sketch pages from multiple artists, a color palette of paint, and a screenshot of text over a black background.

Editorial room’s notes

A big personal thank you to Li for helping me edit this project to life!

I’ve formatted the main zine with a few things in mind which may not be professional editorial choices but of personal appeal. Which is the whole point of doujin* (fanmade) projects anyway that they don’t have to be official formats that needs strict professionalism!

One, is to have an overview of each work at the very front because its nice to vaguely know what you’re getting into.

Two, to have credits with the artwork themselves because I’m used to South Korean collabortive fanbooks where the credits are with the work itself and not at the end (I find it really confusing to look up who drew what in western zines sometimes).

Three, when making graphics for spot art I have a personal rule of don’t impede on the imagination too much, graphics are there to supplement the written work and not to over power them. As most of the fics listed here will be read long term on ao3, if someone looked into our zine to read them
I wanted the presentation of those fics to be a little special so it means something extra to read it from our zine.

Lastily, to balance physical and digital readability, which was why I opted for the two columns look. Even if you zoomed in on the pages to read the fics here, you still have good readability compared to a full horizontal across-page text on a mobile screen.

Beyond this page, this booklet’s contributor work commentaries have not been edited or beta’d in any way. We hope you enjoy their original words of expression!

Page includes three series of before and after images of comic pages with white text to the left of them. The "before" images are all airbrushed sketch only (in coral red) that mostly focuses on characters and dialogue. The "after" side is the completed comic pages (specifically the title page, Spock and Uhura discussing the mission, and Kirk having a Time between his thoughts about Spock and Uhura's intentions for him to see their 'process' while someone else is talking to him) in full color.

In the first pair of images, next to the comic title "Let Them Cook" is additional text that reads "Yup. That's the title". In contrast to the end result of Kirk's request to Bones, which shows Kirk ending his statement with an exclamation and giving a nervous smile, the sketch version shows him ending it a little more solemnly. Notable contrasts in the second pair of images are found with additional notes on the sketch side of actions happening (that may not be as apparent as they are in the final).

Uhura has her earpiece in the final comic version, and a panel where Spock and Uhura are talking shows them holding hands in the sketch side but not in the full comic side. The small kitty Spock in the full comic side is a determined non-kitty Spock in the sketch version. There are sound effects added to Katamari Kitty Spock in the full comic side.

The final pair of images at the bottom shows Uhura having a halo over her in the sketch version, little faces of the people speaking in the middle that are not shown on the full comic side, and where Uhura is walking away there are two people with Uhura on the sketch side and only one in the full comic side. Kirk's bottom frame dialogue has an additional "Oh.." on the full comic side as well as Bones exclaiming "What?!".

"Some before and after pages!

Really happy with Kirk’s final version acting in this one, I think the wincing smile he flashes works better than my first sketched version!

One of my fav pages. Spock looking up at Uhura boobily- was an important vision for me here. I can die happy now.
Also the lil Uhura rolling Spock is a reference to Katamari Damacy game series! (sumo level)

This is one of those;
“I’ll never beat the energy that’s in my sketches” the simplicity of Kirk going “HUH.” is so much cuter in the sketch version to me."

Page includes two lined close-ups of comic pages on the upper right and a rough sketch as well as a full comic rendition art on the bottom left, with white text staggered in the negative space on the upper left and bottom right. The lined comic images are of Kirk looking down at the fake to-be-eaten Spock with a slight blush on his face, and a soft series of Uhura looking at Spock's baby bump and reaching out to caress it gently.

"Technically... this is still unfinished... somewhat...
I started this with the goal of ‘make it look finished lineless and see if I have time to do lineart on top’. These are the test versions with the lines.

So as you can see... I ran out of time to do the lines (or even proper speech bubbles for that matter) but I’m still very happy with the lineless look I did!

If I can get to finish a “with lineart version” for AO3... Then the zine version will be extra special because this would be the more “raw look”."

"Cut content and compromises I made due to time and effort:

1) There was a shower scene sketched towards the end where Kirk soaps Spock clean and fondles him as well. That was going to be the Kirk/’alive’ Spock portion of the comic where he apologizes for erasing all their prep efforts while giving an erotic bubbily body rub.
1-1) So... to give Kirk/’alive’Spock a lil action...
I (last minute) added that scene of Kirk horny day dreaming of them fucking after all this.

2) There was going to be a... Uhura giving Kirk her report talking about the species and the lore I made for them, as they discuss some philosophy and where they belong in the universe etc... I love thinking about their maturing friendship arc so this was also a dear theme in my head I was sad to cut.

3) The original ending was Spock subconsciously projecting Kirk and Uhura to eat him in a dream sequence, much like an invasive thought to them but that could have been too hardcore of a squick theme so I left it out.
3-1) So, instead we get this vague cute kitty imagery of Spock being served on a platter!
(He’s ready to be bitten rawr)"

The images on the bottom left are a rough sketch of Spock receiving his erotic bubbily body rub from Kirk and a full illustration of kitty Spock (with green toe beans and ears) on a pale sage green platter with a tomato and lemon atop of him and a spoon sprinkling seasoning over him with a black backdrop. He is also wrapped in what looks to be twine.

(1/2) Our behind-the-scenes/WIP booklet pages from "Ric"! 🖇 archiveofourown.org/users/AmIsRic 🖇 @riwox.bsky.social 🖇 konkysponkyuhuhu.tumblr.com *non-greyed out sections are description guidelines because of alt-text character limits*

"What I didn’t expect was... how everyone wanted to focus on egg as a theme when the applications officially launched. So to balance out the pregnancy themes of this zine.. I had to start a new artwork focusing solely on preg! (crying laughing)
Def not complaining but it was funny how I tried to do a thing to meet my needs, had to take a u-turn and leave that need behind again.

Later on some people who wrote egg changed to preg and so on which means I could have still not done this comic and went for finishing this egg artwork instead but ah well! That day isn’t today, and I was excited to draw Spock pregnant nonetheless."

First sketch in the middle of the page is of Uhura, Spock, and James Kirk. Spock is slumped forward looking uncomfortable as his mouth is covered by Uhura who is unzipping her outfit with the other hand, smiling down at him while kneeling. Some wet looking eggs are shown in the bottom left and Kirk is in the bottom right from the torso up slightly curled forward and having a horny conundrum about the situation while blushing. Dialogue on the sketch is colored by character- red for Uhura, blue for Spock and gold for Kirk. Uhura: "shhh Spock." Spock: "Mmmf-" Uhura: "It's okay, we came to help." Spock: "unf!" Kirk: Fuck fuck fuck. A 'plop' sound effect is towards the bottom of the image.

Bottom sketch is of Kirk enthusiastically fucking Spock while curled over him. Spock is supporting his own rear and lower back, partially lifted due to the position they are in. Dialogue reads: Kirk: "You'd really rather have my eggs inside you huh-" Spock: "That was not my implication." Kirk: "God- you're so loose and wet Spock, it's crazy hot." Spock: "...but Jim, ah-! Sperm are not eggs." Uhura: *snort*.

"So...
Here’s the backstory of how Spock is pregnant with both Uhura and Kirk’s kids in this! (There’s this whole extra lore a moot and I share, where Spock could have a Y-shaped uterus but that’s for another day)

Ric's Bluesky post thread: One of the things I love thinkin abt and imagining for the three is the fact that Kirk and Uhura can both satisfy/stimulate different parts of Spock's interest and for a while now I also thought of this applying within mpreg context/breeding kink as well
As in... with cis Kirk, he can naturally inseminate Spock. So the whole process is about getting that primal urge flared up, offer that hormonal passion and breeding kink until fertilization.
More about less control and organic in its method.
On the other hand, with cis Uhura the mpreg achieving Process would be completely different.
It would be about planning the timing together, Spock managing the cells and the fertilization in the lab himself.
Lots of aspects to control and calculations to be done for optimal pregnancy...
Every now and then he sits there looking at the embryo(s), getting extremely aroused that he's preparing to plant their 'to be child' in him with his own hands;
[In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process of fertilisation in which an egg is combined with sperm in vitro ("in glass"). The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman's ovulatory process, then removing an ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from her ovaries and enabling a man's sperm to fertilise them in a culture medium in a laboratory. After a fertilised egg (zygote) undergoes embryo culture for 2–6 days, it is transferred by catheter into the uterus, with the intention of establishing a successful pregnancy.]
Eventually with Uhura by his side, he'll be lying there and becoming his own test subject, transferring the fertilized egg into himself.
Then tracking it every day meticulously if the pregnancy has worked."

(continues)

So I love these potential mpreg method differences in each of their relationships and how this can just spark and serve two entirely different sides of Spock's interest/kink as well...
Spock informing Kirk that Uhura and his embryo has attached within him well after some weeks of them trying
Kirk goes 'ah then are we celebrating!?!' but then Spock says 'I would like you to impregnate me further until I have twins'
Kirk blushing and sweating, getting incredibly aroused..
They've talked about this before, but he wasn't sure when that was going to happen.
But no need to tell Kirk twice, he pulls Spock aside making sure to fuck him, creampie him for the next few days till they have their own lil cell structure nested inside Spock
-is the backstory of his pregnancy. 🤭"

Page shows a series of Bluesky screenshots of Ric detailing the dynamic of Kirk, Spock, and Uhura approaching IVF and pregnancy on the left side.

"I said all this very KSU centric style but Bones would definitely be involved in putting Uhura/Spock’s embryo in. He wouldn’t let Spock experiment something to his body without getting himself involved I would think..."

Bones: To think that I’m putting something in you that I’ll be taking it out so and so months after...
Uhura: Just like baking a cake :)

On the right is white text on the top and bottom with two images of Bones from Ric's comic tiled one over the other. The top image is of Bones cheerfully drinking coffee while saying "Yours and Uhura's babies are healthy and kicking, if that's what you're wondering". The bottom image is of Bones speaking while looking concerned off to the right with a couple of beads of sweat on his forehead.

"Also these are the best Bones I’ve ever drawn."

"And the second stage, where I refine the lines, write dialogues, and try to separate elements with colored lines. Sometimes it’s really a mess: everything is on the same layer, I swap colors in the middle of the process, or redraw every sketch five times to get the line I want. To me it’s really the trust the process stage, where I have to tell myself ‘it’s okay, it’ll look good in the end’. After that, my final sketch is done and I’ll adjust the opacity to draw the lines and play with colors. Here I started with Jim, because I knew early on I wanted this dramatic effect with the 60’s lighting!"

Page shows two sketch pages, one on top of the other at opposite corners. The top image is the full comic of Spongynova's from the prior page, however there are more details added. The sketch is blue and orange. There are faces on the larger panels to show emotion. Bones looks affronted while his speech bubble reads "You damn fool I-", getting interrupted by Spock whose eyes are closed, looking calm as he replies "I can assure you doctor you do not need to know more to run your sickbay". Mirror Jim's satisfied expression is filled out. The panel with Spock walking has more detail of the ship's corridor, and the panel of him entering a room shows him keying in a code on a wall panel to gain access. In the final panel at the bottom right, Spock is shirtless and putting his hand on Mirror Spock's thigh. Mirror Spock is toying with a scalpel like it might be a pen, lactating and smirking at Spock, who the viewer can now see is dressed similarly to how Mirror Spock normally would. The bottom image shows Mirror Jim's panel with some color added- his tunic is colored green and his hair and eyelashes have been colored with shades of cornflower yellow and yellow orange. There is a cornflower yellow coloring to part of the ship's wall behind him, and dramatic shading that covers part of Mirror Jim's face down over one eye and the top of his head.

"Last but not least, I want to share with you my deep love for research. As a nerd nothing pleases me more than doing lots of deep dives for one simple sketch on a weird subject. So for the first page I watched some videos of people playing with pens to be able to draw Mirror Spock’s hand playing with a scalpel (source: Impressive Pen Tricks to Learn for When You’re Nervous or Bored by Lifehacker).

The second pic was for the second page of the comic, I knew I wanted to draw a c-section without having a lot of knowledge about the procedure (sadly I couldn’t find where the drawing was from). And that’s how you end up with a really weird search history folks <3"

Page includes two images placed one next to each other top to bottom with white text framing on the top and the bottom. First image is a screenshot of a video with a hand holding a white pen over a textured gray backdrop. Second image below that is an eight step diagram of the c-section process in grayscale. The image title is "classical caesarean section", and is labeled A through H by each part and includes textual descriptions on all to the bottom or right side. (Content Warning for graphic medical description) Part A shows hands holding the surgery site open as gauze is packed around the uterus. Part B shows similar but with one hand holding a scalpel and incising the uterus. Part C shows a single hand spreading the incision and extending it downwards with a scalpel. Part D depicts two hands delivering the baby from the incision site. Part E shows a single hand scraping the membrane of the uterus with the umbilical cord emerging from the incision site. Part F depicts removing the placenta and membranes with two hands, one holding a tool. Part G shows the suture process of the incision site. Part H shows the uterus as surgically closed.

"The first image has my feedback from Ric drawn over it- the arm now has a place, and there are finally some tentacles!

This was rough because I knew what I wanted but I wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to make it reality. The leg in the second picture is *so* off, especially in relation to the rest of Spock’s body. The oviposition part stayed the same through most of this process. I have no idea what it says about me that that was the clearest image in my head for this.

I think my original pitch for this zine was more focused on the breeding kink aspect, and at some point it became oviposition/tentacles… oops. "

Two sketch images are shown, one on the top right is smaller. It shows the original sketch from the prior page of Spock and a couple of the egg design experiments to the right of him. There are color coded additions from Ric that include a long violet tentacle that wraps around Spock's left leg, his middle, and around his left arm which is now drawn in red trapped above and behind him while bent. The larger of the two images is underneath it, with white text centered to the left of the image. The second image incorporates the feedback from Ric, anchoring Spock by the new tentacle (that is partially drawn) and his left arm in its new position. His face also has sketched features in blue, with his eyes closed and his brow furrowed. His head is turned to the right.

"Why did I have my heart set on this bright pink?? It’s so pretty in person but it was a real nightmare to photograph accurately. I’m sorry Ric for choosing such a wild pink!

Originally it was going to just be the under painting but I grossly overestimated 1) how much it was going to throw off my colour scheme, and 2) how fun the colour was. I got emotionally attached to it.
You can sort of see the weirdness of the colour palette coming through. The entire painting was made with that vibrant opera pink, magenta, cyan, blue-violet, deep violet, green, and white.
I added some black to my palette but I wound up neutralizing that green with a bit of magenta instead. I was reading James Gurney’s “Color and Light: a guide for the realist painter” and wanted to try a limited palette out. "

Two versions of Lichqueenlibrarian's painting are depicted, one on top of the other on the left of the page. The top version includes a fluorescent magenta background. Spock now has a torn blue science division tunic on his upper body, the tentacle is colored lilac and opera pink, and sketch additions that are uncolored that reveal Spock is now gripping the tentacles. His face is also now turned towards the tentacle holding his arm in place instead of away. The tentacle wrapped around his lower leg has his underwear hooked on the end of it and the eggs have more shading (but are not yet colored). The bottom image shows a more completed version of Spock's coloring which includes some darker violet shading. The tentacles are now partially colored (more than the one around his chest) in shades of pink as well as the underwear/pants in black and the eggs which are shiny dark violet surrounded in pink. His lok and sheath are now colored olive green.

Includes orange coded bar with tags for the series and topic matter.

Page includes a digital sketch that takes up the majority of the space with some white text centered below it. The sketch image is Captain James Kirk standing to the right of a biobed that Spock is laying on, holding his right hand (on the image this appears to be the left since they are facing the viewer). On Spock's left is Doctor McCoy, holding a tricorder and resting his right hand low on Spock's belly. Both McCoy and Kirk are wearing their Starfleet uniforms. Spock is only wearing his science division tunic, which is bunched up over his very pregnant baby bump. Spock's pussy is the focal point between Spock's held-open legs which are held in stirrups, his tail curling out from the center of his body between it and the biobed. Kirk has a dialogue bubble above him that reads ""all the politics surrounding this baby, and they can't even be here for its arrival?"". Spock also has a dialogue bubble beneath it that reads ""It is alright, Captain. Your presence and the Doctor's is sufficient."".Sketch is black on a white background.

"I usually start with a sketch, and this piece was no different! The hardest things to figure out at this stage was the composition and how to fit all three of them and their dialogue in the space I was working with in a way that was also pleasing to the eye and conveyed the story I wanted to tell. The biggest things for me going in were that I wanted all of them to be touching, and I wanted pussy at the center! Adding stirrups to the standard TOS med bed ended up being more challenging than I thought, but ultimately I kept it simple. McCoy’s dialogue was a last minute addition to balance the piece and add more context, so it wasn’t part of this original sketch! From start to finish, the entire piece took 8 hours and 19 minutes."

Page includes one digital painting with white text to the right of it and below it. Underneath the bottom text is a selection of colors in a bar across the bottom of the page: first red, then royal blue, and finally sage green. The digital painting is a naked Spock over a denim blue background. Spock is holding up the Vulcan salute with his right hand and is sitting with his legs tucked, knees to the right (appearing as to the left since he is facing the viewer). His tail curls out to the left and has a bushy tip. He has body hair and one golden piercing in each ear. There are two small artist signatures: one to the left of Spock's left forearm in black, and one to the right of his knees in gold.

"My depiction of Spock in this zine is heavily inspired by this drawing I did of him in May 2025. Furry and tailed, like he deserves to be!

As I was finalizing this piece, the hardest thing was making it feel…complete. The added dialogue from McCoy did a lot of the heavy lifting in that regard, but choosing a background color was another big decision! I was originally thinking either a strong blue or red, but then with some advice from a friend, I settled on a nice light green which contrasted nicely and brought out Spock’s greens. "

i am also gonna need your help tomorrow to decide what of spock's preggo journey to highlight in the zine fic

[nopulse]:
so like
i've been doing a tiny bit of worldbuilding to explain spock and mitchell's connection a little more
and i came up with
spock being mitchell's academic journal entry editor and their soundboard when they prepare for presentations
and they in return do the same for spock
pls imagine spock sitting there and listening or reading quietly, mitchell giving him this hedging "well?" smile and spock taking a dainty little breath
then reading the entirety of it to filth

and then they repeat this process like three times until mitchell gets the slightest softening of spock's expression and a "sufficient argument, i believe this will be adequate" to which they do this little "yesssss / fistpump"

💫space:
cuuuute 🥺

[nopulse]:
i just need spock to have a nerd friend!!!
someone that isn't daunted even a little by his deadpan delivery or dedication to facts over feelings
and that way it bridges that gap that exists since mitchell isn't part of girl's night [which i am STEADFASTLY choosing to believe is bc mitchell goes to a guy's night elsewhere]
also side note
did i rant to you about the silliness of anbo jutsu?

"surprise! tiniest lore nugget for tiniest fic"

Page includes a very patchwork set of discord DMs between Li and Space, interspersed with a couple memes about writing and of Nick Miller from The New Girl. On the right side, the meme is Nick Miller at a laptop in a well-lit living room saying "This is good." in the top image while facing the laptop. The bottom image is him looking off to the side and saying "I got nothing." There is a second meme below it, also of Nick Miller facing the camera with Jessica Day facing away (both from the shoulders up). Nick is saying "I'm not convinced I know how to read. I've just memorized a lot of words."

A couple inches down is a third meme of a painting of an older man with a white beard with one hand on a globe between them and a younger friar in a robe. The header text is black with a white background that reads "Writers' friends when they listen to the writer explaining the plot." The text overlaid on the top of the image reads "You have no idea what you're doing, do you?" and "Keep your voice down." To the left of these is a meme that reads "The writing process:" and shouw a set of four sketch images over a peach colored background. One sketch is a person hunched and squatting next to their laptop, looking at the reader. The second is a person sitting on the floor with their legs bent and feet on the floor, impossibly curled over towards the floor where they write, face right next to the page. Third is below that and to the right of a person staring up at the ceiling from a computer chair in front of their computer- and has a couple of echoes of the person staring to give the impression that they are astral projecting away from the computer. The last is at the bottom and is a person whistling while clicking around on the computer, clearly not writing. On the left side of the page are two more images of Nick Miller, one of him on the couch with his face in his hands and the next with Nick also on the couch but face down (with his face buried in the armrest).

"It took me some time to feel confident that I was capturing Pike the way I wanted to. Spock as well to be honest. I ended up keeping all of these poses, only reworking them again and again and again over the few months I worked on this.

My style changed a bit and there was a point where I had finally studied Pike enough that I ended up trashing my main picture and redrew it..."

Two images are featured on this page of Space's art. The top image being a sketch and lineart version of Spock holding his maternity robes up where his shoulder peeks from it and one hand over his baby bump. He is smiling just slightly in this version, one corner of his lips quirking up. His eyes are closed. The bottom image is a flat colors version of the painting from the previous page (Spock holding his baby bump and Chris turning his face to kiss him) with two additional small snapshot images on the right side. Spock's maternity robe now looks more transparent, one of his nipples is visible through the fabric, and their skin has more hue and shape. Spock has purple eyeshadow on and Chris' shirt is now pale yellow while his hair is gray. The snapshots are in lineart on a white background one on top of the other at angles- one of a side view of Spock with Chris kneeling before him and resting his head against Spock's baby bump. Spock's hand is resting on Chris' head and looks gently pleased. Chris looks content. The bottom snapshot image is the lineart version of Spock holding his maternity robe by the shoulder and baby bump.

Text is staggered on the right side of the page.

"In the end this is what I settled with and I’m so glad I did. I was able to complete a majority of the work in a very short amount of time just because I felt more confident with the new sketch and I ended up loving it a whole lot more than I originally did when I started it.

In all this ended up being such a wonderful project that helped me grow as an artist and show my love for my favorite rare pairing and knocking Spock up!"

Two images, one centered on the bottom left and the other on the top right. Image on the bottom left is the lineart version of the main maternity shoot photo (Spock holding his baby bump and Chris turning his face to kiss him) over a white background, this one reflecting the sheer nature of Spock's robe showing the form of his body beneath. Top right image is a flat colors combined images of the shoot, with the two snapshot images having a white background. Spock's robes are mostly transparent mulberry gray and incomplete, his naked body visible beneath. His hair has more texture and shading. Chris' hair appears to be shaded and fully colored, showing the bottom side of his hair to be much shorter.

Text is on the bottom right.

www.doctorswithoutborders.org (If you've signed up for our newsletter you will already have this information! 🐣)

"Doctors Without Borders" is the charity we are broadly advocating for as a place to donate to! Fandom isn't just about one country or cause, and fiction is created and set around history and cultures all around the globe. Sadly, conflict and crisis are also universal topics around the world and crucial medical support is always needed somewhere – and so we thought this charity would be best to advocate for, so donations can make an impact where they are needed the most.
That being said, the best place for your money and effort is for your community's well-being locally, if you can support a grassroots/local help group or charitable cause that's important to you, please support them and send us an anon receipt copy or photo proof of donation(if dropping off food, supplies), to spreggzine@gmail.com and receive our behind-the-scenes bonus zine + sleeping kitty Spock(s) animated gif sticker pack*!"
*They are transparent and 320px square in size, upload and usable in chat servers.

For proof of donations...
▶ Please erase your name and personal info(address, payment method etc..), we just need the amount, where you've donated to and date!
▶ Amount is only used for our tally at the end so we can announce and celebrate! This can be in whatever your chosen currency is. (Photo of donated supplies are also accepted)
▶ The date on the receipt/photo should be after the 4th of April and not reused from another project.

Get early access to 19 pages of WIP/behind-the-scenes commentary zine!

Green Eggs and Ham'd is a collaborative, free, unofficial nsfw fanzine centered around Spock from the Star Trek franchise being prEGGnant.

Each contributor was encouraged to explore the pregg-tential of Spock and make their own creative takes to express this subject matter. At the end of this journey we made something whimsical, perverted and kinda freaky all collected into a lovely self-printable pdf bundle for like-minded people to enjoy!

10 creators 54 pages of art, comic and fic!

Photo collages of Green Eggs and Ham'd looking professionally printed.
Captioned "Self-printable NSFW zine!"

If there were a degree in getting that Vulcan pregnant I'd be on my way to a P(reg)hD. Equal opportunity Spock enthusiast but generally swing in the TOS direction. My kingdom is getting men (and Vulcans) pregnant in increasingly alarming and peculiar methods. Get Commander Spock a hundred CCs of baby in him NOW.
