"What I didn’t expect was... how everyone wanted to focus on egg as a theme when the applications officially launched. So to balance out the pregnancy themes of this zine.. I had to start a new artwork focusing solely on preg! (crying laughing)
Def not complaining but it was funny how I tried to do a thing to meet my needs, had to take a u-turn and leave that need behind again.

Later on some people who wrote egg changed to preg and so on which means I could have still not done this comic and went for finishing this egg artwork instead but ah well! That day isn’t today, and I was excited to draw Spock pregnant nonetheless."

First sketch in the middle of the page is of Uhura, Spock, and James Kirk. Spock is slumped forward looking uncomfortable as his mouth is covered by Uhura who is unzipping her outfit with the other hand, smiling down at him while kneeling. Bottom sketch is of Kirk enthusiastically fucking Spock while curled over him. Spock is supporting his own rear and lower back, partially lifted due to the position they are in. Dialogue reads: Kirk: "You'd really rather have my eggs inside you huh-" Spock: "That was not my implication." Kirk: "God- you're so loose and wet Spock, it's crazy hot." Spock: "...but Jim, ah-! Sperm are not eggs." Uhura: *snort*.

Here’s the backstory of how Spock is pregnant with both Uhura and Kirk’s kids in this! (There’s this whole extra lore a moot and I share, where Spock could have a Y-shaped uterus but that’s for another day)

Ric's Bluesky post thread: One of the things I love thinkin abt and imagining for the three is the fact that Kirk and Uhura can both satisfy/stimulate different parts of Spock's interest and for a while now I also thought of this applying within mpreg context/breeding kink as well
As in... with cis Kirk, he can naturally inseminate Spock. So the whole process is about getting that primal urge flared up, offer that hormonal passion and breeding kink until fertilization.
More about less control and organic in its method.
On the other hand, with cis Uhura the mpreg achieving Process would be completely different.
It would be about planning the timing together, Spock managing the cells and the fertilization in the lab himself.
Lots of aspects to control and calculations to be done for optimal pregnancy...
Every now and then he sits there looking at the embryo(s), getting extremely aroused that he's preparing to plant their 'to be child' in him with his own hands;
[In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is a process of fertilisation in which an egg is combined with sperm in vitro ("in glass"). The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman's ovulatory process, then removing an ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from her ovaries and enabling a man's sperm to fertilise them in a culture medium in a laboratory. So I love these potential mpreg method differences in each of their relationships and how this can just spark and serve two entirely different sides of Spock's interest/kink as well...

Page includes three series of before and after images of comic pages with white text to the left of them. The "before" images are all airbrushed sketch only (in coral red) that mostly focuses on characters and dialogue. The "after" side is the completed comic pages (specifically the title page, Spock and Uhura discussing the mission, and Kirk having a Time between his thoughts about Spock and Uhura's intentions for him to see their 'process' while someone else is talking to him) in full color.

In the first pair of images, next to the comic title "Let Them Cook" is additional text that reads "Yup. That's the title". In contrast to the end result of Kirk's request to Bones, which shows Kirk ending his statement with an exclamation and giving a nervous smile, the sketch version shows him ending it a little more solemnly. Notable contrasts in the second pair of images are found with additional notes on the sketch side of actions happening (that may not be as apparent as they are in the final).

Uhura has her earpiece in the final comic version, and a panel where Spock and Uhura are talking shows them holding hands in the sketch side but not in the full comic side. The small kitty Spock in the full comic side is a determined non-kitty Spock in the sketch version. There are sound effects added to Katamari Kitty Spock in the full comic side.

The final pair of images at the bottom shows Uhura having a halo over her in the sketch version, little faces of the people speaking in the middle that are not shown on the full comic side, and where Uhura is walking away there are two people with Uhura on the sketch side and only one in the full comic side. Kirk's bottom frame dialogue has an additional "Oh.." on the full comic side as well as Bones exclaiming "What?!".

Really happy with Kirk’s final version acting in this one, I think the wincing smile he flashes works better than my first sketched version!

One of my fav pages. Spock looking up at Uhura boobily- was an important vision for me here. I can die happy now.
Also the lil Uhura rolling Spock is a reference to Katamari Damacy game series! (sumo level)

This is one of those;
“I’ll never beat the energy that’s in my sketches” the simplicity of Kirk going “HUH.” is so much cuter in the sketch version to me."

I started this with the goal of ‘make it look finished lineless and see if I have time to do lineart on top’. These are the test versions with the lines.

So as you can see... I ran out of time to do the lines (or even proper speech bubbles for that matter) but I’m still very happy with the lineless look I did!

If I can get to finish a “with lineart version” for AO3... Then the zine version will be extra special because this would be the more “raw look”."

"Cut content and compromises I made due to time and effort:

1) There was a shower scene sketched towards the end where Kirk soaps Spock clean and fondles him as well. That was going to be the Kirk/’alive’ Spock portion of the comic where he apologizes for erasing all their prep efforts while giving an erotic bubbily body rub.
1-1) So... to give Kirk/’alive’Spock a lil action...
I (last minute) added that scene of Kirk horny day dreaming of them fucking after all this.

2) There was going to be a... Uhura giving Kirk her report talking about the species and the lore I made for them, as they discuss some philosophy and where they belong in the universe etc... I love thinking about their maturing friendship arc so this was also a dear theme in my head I was sad to cut.

3) The original ending was Spock subconsciously projecting Kirk and Uhura to eat him in a dream sequence, much like an invasive thought to them but that could have been too hardcore of a squick theme so I left it out.
3-1) So, instead we get this vague cute kitty imagery of Spock being served on a platter!
(He’s ready to be bitten rawr)"

The images on the bottom left are a rough sketch of Spock receiving his erotic bubbily body rub from Kirk and a full illustration of kitty Spock (with green toe beans and ears) on a pale sage green platter with a tomato and lemon atop of him and a spoon sprinkling seasoning over him with a black backdrop. He is also wrapped in what looks to be twine.

"And the second stage, where I refine the lines, write dialogues, and try to separate elements with colored lines. Sometimes it’s really a mess: everything is on the same layer, I swap colors in the middle of the process, or redraw every sketch five times to get the line I want. To me it’s really the trust the process stage, where I have to tell myself ‘it’s okay, it’ll look good in the end’. After that, my final sketch is done and I’ll adjust the opacity to draw the lines and play with colors. Here I started with Jim, because I knew early on I wanted this dramatic effect with the 60’s lighting!"

The sketch is blue and orange. There are faces on the larger panels to show emotion. The panel with Spock walking has more detail of the ship's corridor, and the panel of him entering a room shows him keying in a code on a wall panel to gain access. In the final panel at the bottom right, Spock is shirtless and putting his hand on Mirror Spock's thigh. Mirror Spock is toying with a scalpel like it might be a pen, lactating and smirking at Spock, who the viewer can now see is dressed similarly to how Mirror Spock normally would. The bottom image shows Mirror Jim's panel with some color added- his tunic is colored green and his hair and eyelashes have been colored with shades of cornflower yellow and yellow orange. There is a cornflower yellow coloring to part of the ship's wall behind him, and dramatic shading that covers part of Mirror Jim's face down over one eye and the top of his head.

"Last but not least, I want to share with you my deep love for research. As a nerd nothing pleases me more than doing lots of deep dives for one simple sketch on a weird subject. So for the first page I watched some videos of people playing with pens to be able to draw Mirror Spock’s hand playing with a scalpel (source: Impressive Pen Tricks to Learn for When You’re Nervous or Bored by Lifehacker).

The second pic was for the second page of the comic, I knew I wanted to draw a c-section without having a lot of knowledge about the procedure (sadly I couldn’t find where the drawing was from). And that’s how you end up with a really weird search history folks <3"

"The first image has my feedback from Ric drawn over it- the arm now has a place, and there are finally some tentacles!

This was rough because I knew what I wanted but I wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to make it reality. The leg in the second picture is *so* off, especially in relation to the rest of Spock’s body. The oviposition part stayed the same through most of this process. I have no idea what it says about me that that was the clearest image in my head for this.

I think my original pitch for this zine was more focused on the breeding kink aspect, and at some point it became oviposition/tentacles… oops. "

Two sketch images are shown, one on the top right is smaller. It shows the original sketch from the prior page of Spock and a couple of the egg design experiments to the right of him. There are color coded additions from Ric that include a long violet tentacle that wraps around Spock's left leg, his middle, and around his left arm which is now drawn in red trapped above and behind him while bent. The larger of the two images is underneath it, with white text centered to the left of the image. The second image incorporates the feedback from Ric, anchoring Spock by the new tentacle (that is partially drawn) and his left arm in its new position. His face also has sketched features in blue, with his eyes closed and his brow furrowed. His head is turned to the right.

"Why did I have my heart set on this bright pink?? It’s so pretty in person but it was a real nightmare to photograph accurately. I’m sorry Ric for choosing such a wild pink!

Originally it was going to just be the under painting but I grossly overestimated 1) how much it was going to throw off my colour scheme, and 2) how fun the colour was. I got emotionally attached to it.
You can sort of see the weirdness of the colour palette coming through. The entire painting was made with that vibrant opera pink, magenta, cyan, blue-violet, deep violet, green, and white.
I added some black to my palette but I wound up neutralizing that green with a bit of magenta instead. I was reading James Gurney’s “Color and Light: a guide for the realist painter” and wanted to try a limited palette out. "

Two versions of Lichqueenlibrarian's painting are depicted, one on top of the other on the left of the page. The top version includes a fluorescent magenta background. Spock now has a torn blue science division tunic on his upper body, the tentacle is colored lilac and opera pink, and sketch additions that are uncolored that reveal Spock is now gripping the tentacles. His face is also now turned towards the tentacle holding his arm in place instead of away. The tentacle wrapped around his lower leg has his underwear hooked on the end of it and the eggs have more shading (but are not yet colored). The bottom image shows a more completed version of Spock's coloring which includes some darker violet shading. The tentacles are now partially colored (more than the one around his chest) in shades of pink as well as the underwear/pants in black and the eggs which are shiny dark violet surrounded in pink. His lok and sheath are now colored olive green.

"The eggs! I looked at so many photos of frog eggs I must be on some kind of watchlist now. I wanted them to be goopy and squishy in order to cram a whole bunch of them into Spock somewhat realistically, but also to show them as being truly alien. Painting semi transparent eggs against the hot pink background was also complicated. I was so worried I’d push too far and wreck them!

Regarding Spock’s genitalia, I went back and forth about adding fra’als and decided in the end that the scene was a little too complicated if they made an appearance.

The clothing… Spock originally had no clothes on at all, and then he gained a torn up uniform shirt as I felt there needed to be a little more happening at the top half of this illustration!
He strains against the fabric, the tentacles are in and out of the ripped material and oozing over it… way more fun!"

"A photo of my palette with all the colours I used! You can see I am not a tidy painter……

There is a soft pink mixed in there- I had to correct some smudging and the bright opera pink was really translucent; I mixed a pale pink with the white paint to cover the smudges, then painted over that with the opera pink.

All my paints are from Holbein’s Acryla Gouache line, they’re gorgeous and a little goes a long way, which is a good thing because each tube is only 20ml! I did go though more opera pink than expected though, because one of my tubes was spoiled…"

Helped my friends set up their booth today as they are letting me stay over at their place :^) They were a TF mini event hosting booth so didn't sell anything but distributed my friend's OT3 ramble/tarot reading booklet, (I drew her the pixel post card to go with) The booth banner was so funny.. 😂

"It took me some time to feel confident that I was capturing Pike the way I wanted to. Spock as well to be honest. I ended up keeping all of these poses, only reworking them again and again and again over the few months I worked on this.

My style changed a bit and there was a point where I had finally studied Pike enough that I ended up trashing my main picture and redrew it..."

The top image being a sketch and lineart version of Spock holding his maternity robes up where his shoulder peeks from it and one hand over his baby bump. He is smiling just slightly in this version, one corner of his lips quirking up. His eyes are closed. The bottom image is a flat colors version of the painting from the previous page (Spock holding his baby bump and Chris turning his face to kiss him) with two additional small snapshot images on the right side. Spock's maternity robe now looks more transparent, one of his nipples is visible through the fabric, and their skin has more hue and shape. Spock has purple eyeshadow on and Chris' shirt is now pale yellow while his hair is gray. "In the end this is what I settled with and I’m so glad I did. I was able to complete a majority of the work in a very short amount of time just because I felt more confident with the new sketch and I ended up loving it a whole lot more than I originally did when I started it.

In all this ended up being such a wonderful project that helped me grow as an artist and show my love for my favorite rare pairing and knocking Spock up!"

i've been doing a tiny bit of worldbuilding to explain spock and mitchell's connection a little more
and i came up with
spock being mitchell's academic journal entry editor and their soundboard when they prepare for presentations
and they in return do the same for spock
pls imagine spock sitting there and listening or reading quietly, mitchell giving him this hedging "well?" smile and spock taking a dainty little breath
then reading the entirety of it to filth

and then they repeat this process like three times until mitchell gets the slightest softening of spock's expression and a "sufficient argument, i believe this will be adequate" to which they do this little "yesssss / fistpump"

"I usually start with a sketch, and this piece was no different! The hardest things to figure out at this stage was the composition and how to fit all three of them and their dialogue in the space I was working with in a way that was also pleasing to the eye and conveyed the story I wanted to tell. The biggest things for me going in were that I wanted all of them to be touching, and I wanted pussy at the center! Adding stirrups to the standard TOS med bed ended up being more challenging than I thought, but ultimately I kept it simple. McCoy’s dialogue was a last minute addition to balance the piece and add more context, so it wasn’t part of this original sketch! From start to finish, the entire piece took 8 hours and 19 minutes."

"My depiction of Spock in this zine is heavily inspired by this drawing I did of him in May 2025. Furry and tailed, like he deserves to be!

As I was finalizing this piece, the hardest thing was making it feel…complete. The added dialogue from McCoy did a lot of the heavy lifting in that regard, but choosing a background color was another big decision! I was originally thinking either a strong blue or red, but then with some advice from a friend, I settled on a nice light green which contrasted nicely and brought out Spock’s greens. "

Nearly the entire department has been let go, with only a skeleton crew of full time production staff remaining in place to coordinate the hiring of resources on a per-project basis. Reports and social media posts discussing the layoffs began circulating on public and private channels mid-day Tuesday.

Sources familiar with the layoffs say this was largely due to the previously-announced reduction in the Marvel Studios production slate, along with the general cost-cutting and workforce reductions announced by Disney. It does not appear that these specific jobs were eliminated for reasons involving AI, which has been a driver behind other shakeups in the creative industries.
